CGC has been over-grading their cards. Way too many Pristine 10s being given out compared to the population counts. This is not how you compete with PSA/BGS.

Gem rate data shows PSA gives out a lot more 10’s on the average than any other grading company. And since I’m an old man I remember how PSA got to be number one. And that was basically anything submitted got a 10 and everyone wanted a 10 so now people are stuck using them because to do otherwise would devalue all those 10’s

Hi when you talk about corners, I just happen to have a pokemon card which are rounded, and mine happens to have 2 corners still partially attached...wound that be an error?

Please don't make SEC super dragon ball heroes (SDBH) cards as Ultimate Rare. SEC stands for Secret Rare, it's even part of their card number. People in the SDBH hobby have been sending their cards back as Mechanical Error because the CGC graders are labeling their Secret Rare cards as Ultimate Rare. Even Bandai, the manufacturer, has Secret Rare as its own rarity level. IT IS NOT A SUBSET OF ULTIMATE RARE. CGC will start to lose loyal customers who graded their SDBH cards with you. Please don't do this.

It is a shame that CGC doesn't have slabs designed to hold cards like this properly and uses sleeves inside a slab instead. I send my 1950's Bowman to SGC since CGC doesn't have special slabs for these. I would 100% switch to CGC for all vintage if they could have special labs for T206, Goudey, Play Ball, and early Bowman's.

Hello Andy. Thanks for the video. I do have some questions on surface issues since this is probably the hardest one to determine if there is a flaw or not... Sorry for the long winded comment. On older topps baseball cards, from the 80's how do fish eyes or ink run offs, how much do these issues matter? As an example, the record breaker cards from 89 topps are in red. Until i sent them in for grading and getting a grade lower than i expected, i thought the issue was related to that red background having some ink printing issues. I didnt notice a bunch of spots in the red area of the cards. Therefore, and i guess this applies to any cards, are fish eyes, double printing, shadowing and spotting an issue? If you are too incompetent to find the right gloves, you shouldn't take that as a reason to call yourself a grading school and make a video about it. I can guarantee you at every corner where you touched the card with your fingers I can see it on a spectral image.

He is just showing what to look for in corners. I guess you want him to wear gloves, which actually can do more damage. Glad you are an expert in grading cards and handling them. Start your own grading company. CGC is doing a great job in educating people how they grade cards. Guess everyone needs to be negative...

Make sure you wash your hands well though, so the oils from your hands doesn't show up, which pop up sometimes especially on the glossy cards.

These video tips have been very handy and I have made some errors like... Covered in a different video, using a microfiber cloth to clean my cards before putting them in a penny sleeve. I once used a cloth that we use for house cleaning. Although it was washed, it had a snag and scratched a card(s). Now I don't mix the two. The fingernail one is another one that bit me in the butt... Finally, the one that will be the most difficult to not do again is; eating potato chips while looking at my cards. You guys may get a greasy card or two from me. 😂

Unfortunately CGC's card division has unofficially partnered with some of the larger dealers and collectors within the hobby and have given out gift grades in exchange for marketing opportunities. This is extremely important to them at the outset of their card grading operations because they have to establish themselves while PSA and BGS are already so entrenched within the MTG grading community. The Lotus they assigned a Pristine grade wasn't fairly graded either, they just did that to ensure they could issue a press release showing the record breaking card was in a CGC slab.
