One of my favorite memories of my daughter's musical upbringing is her appreciation of the Montagues and Capulets fight scene and those overly challenged str ings during that section. Even the Philly strings suffered through it. She gained a real understanding of Prokofiev, however. He's still among her favorites as well as is mine. Great writing for oboe, also.

The way he played the bass really ruined it for me. I love this song to bits and his soft plucking just destroyed the magic of the bass part. It’s meant to be a crisp, punchy fingerstyle sound that gives harmonic and textural oomph to the piece. It’s a shame because I was loving the choice of xylophones for the counterpoint and the groovy addition of that triangle. The drumming was awesome as well.
@elliottsmith82682 жыл бұрын
That could be because the original part had 2 basses in mind playing the two lines, maybe doing them both on one instrument requires a lighter touch to even distinguish the rapid 8 th notes

I was in this amazing ballet as a soldier which was just extra work at the Alhambra theatre Bradford many years ago. To be on stage with the dancers listening to the orchestra in the pit was mind blowing everyone of the ten performances. I even remember the equity rate which was £40 per performance. I believe it was the English National Ballet.
