Cant the glass be cut instead of shattering?
@LucasartworkАй бұрын
No this type of glass can’t be re-cut to a different size. It has all that tension in there. It could’ve been removed as a full piece like a lot of people have said, but it was very large and heavy so we decided just to scrap this one.

awesome video thanks!. do you have any links to the replacement bearings or replacement parts you found or any part numbers? im beginning the same project can't wait to get to work on it.
@Lucasartwork2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks! I appreciate it. Yeah I got them from EBay. Here’s the link www.ebay.com/itm/223335476277 Good luck with your restoration work. These are definitely a good solid lathes and I’m a big fan of the old Delta Rockwell tools. . I have seen a modern comparable tool for thousands but of course the old ones don’t have speed control. But metal castings and construction of it are really good. Thanks again!
@ChristopherTrybus2 ай бұрын
@@Lucasartwork thanks. Mine came with a 3 phase motor and I think I’m going to convert it. I know it’s expensive and not original but the lathe body is a super solid platform and I’m not against a little customization to get it to work the way I need it to.
@Lucasartwork2 ай бұрын
@@ChristopherTrybus I look forward to seeing the restoration if you post it. I saw you’re short on it! It looks a little rusty but I’m sure it will come out great. And it was a good deal. I got mine for about $180.

I got a good suggestion. You can buy a drane bladder for 15 bucks and just hooke it to tye a garden hose and place it in the main hole. Let it run for ten minites and it should clear out ur sewer system as long as its not major. No need to drill or unbolt anything. It litterally takes 11 minutes.
@Lucasartwork2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the suggestion. I might have to try that sometime! I’m not sure it would work in my case but it would for a lot of clogs. Mine was like cement hard pack and took poking through. Anyway, thanks for letting me know! I will keep that in mind for the next time.

very informative. I just did the same thing with the lathe that I inherited from my father. Similar to yours, mine is a Duro production Lathe A3056. I was able to actually find the original bearings that were used 50 years ago. Thanks for sharing!
@Lucasartwork2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks, That’s awesome, I’m glad it helped. I’ll have to look that up. Is it the same as the Delta Rockwell? How did you find original bearings? I still have the original ones from mine. They were probably fine but I didn’t really know at the time. I have them soaking in oil now for future reference. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

very helpful. thank you. what if the ptrap is filled with solid debris? I have a basement floor drail that looks just like this but the hole in the middle is filled with semi solid sludge. The outlet on the side does not have any cap on it. Should I buy and auger and snake out both or shop vac out the ptrap...? I'm worried about corrosion of the ptrap since I think it is possibly cast iron or whatever it is is very old. I just noticed this recently because water started backing up out of floor drain when I ran washing machine. Don't notice this happening when I'm running any other water in the house. I'd rather not hire a plumber to fix this if I don't have to because I don't have much money but I don't want to make things worse either. Would appreciate advice. Thanks!
@Lucasartwork3 ай бұрын
Oh no problem, you can try to punch through the hard pack in the p-trap but sometimes it’s hard to get the snake to bend through. But yeah, if that’s full or clogged that might be you problem area. I would try a combination of agitating it and spray a stream of water in. You can also shop vac out to pull it out after loosening it up. It pulls it the other way to try and free the clog. Definitely try a small snake or good stiff wire that bends. Try the p-trap and check the clean out also. Then if you get it cleared the agitate it more and spray water through to get it clean. Hopefully you won’t break the trap, and that would be rare, if that happens you would have to replace the whole thing by breaking out concrete. Good luck and let me know if you got it! Thanks
@wordswordswords82033 ай бұрын
@@Lucasartwork Thank you so much! Very helpful advice. Glad to hear it's rare to break the trap. I was worried about that. Esp. since I've never done this before but I think I will give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes. It was helped a lot to watch you do the whole job like that.
