Hi Ronnie, Here at The HomeScholar we focus on homeschooling middle and high school, however we do have an article that you might find helpful: www.homehighschoolhelp.com/how-to-be-a-better-home-educator. This is a good place to start for homeschooling elementary kids: simplehomeschool.net. I hope that helps! ~Jennifer, Assistant to The HomeScholar

I had to make a weekly checklist for them each to check off boxes/tasks. It's too hard otherwise with 4 kids all different levels and this is the only thing that works for 3 of them. The second oldest procrastinates terribly and I have no solutions for him :(

Summer of 2021, I will be taking my kids on a 550+ mile hike(~45day hike) What credit would you recommend?
@homescholar
@homescholar 4 жыл бұрын
That's wonderful! You can count that as a PE credit. Depending on the number of hours you spend doing that, you might have to combine it with other PE activities. 120-190 = one full credit.

Our daughter will be in 9th grade this year. Now that she’s in high school, how many credits do you think a high schooler should graduate with? We’re in Texas, and the minimum amount of credits is 22. But she’s an advanced student, so I’m thinking more like 26-28. Do you think that’s to much? Also, do Honors and AP classes make that much of a difference entering college?
@homescholar
@homescholar 4 жыл бұрын
You are right in the range for credits. I usually recommend 24-28. It will vary by homeshcooler, depending on their elective credits. To count a class as an AP class, you have to have taken the exam through the collegeboard. You can list a class as honors and it does hold some value.

Hi Lee, I need you right now - so keep up with the videos. I'm in the middle school years with my kids and my wheels are already turning for how we'll accomplish high school - so you are quite timely. I'll be checking out your website. We need veterans like you who can speak to us and encourage us to carry on.

I've been homeschooled since 4th grade. I'm in 8th grade now, and I think I want to go back to public school. But the thing is, it's a huge choice. And it's really stressing me and my family out. I kinda want to go back, but I don't want to make the wrong choice.

Yes! It's difficult to save for college when you are a single income family. It was a huge burden lifted when I was told it is okay for kids to pay for part or even most of their education. Thank you for the encouragement!
