Wonderful. First time I've watched this, always liked Ramin's voice since...there's a colour to it I can't quite place.

Here’s my perspectives on each: Len Cariou: I LOVE the buildup here. He sounds so ferocious and triumphant! George Hearn (1982): My personal favorite! Not only is his voice incredible but so are his acting choices! I love how he holds Turpin’s head back so he can get a good look at his face before he dies, and his unrestrained enthusiasm from the moment he slits his throat and sends him down the chute, including his primal roar of triumph! He really makes you believe he’s been waiting 15 years for this moment. I like Turpin’s acting here too! Especially when he confusedly repeats “Barber…” and tries to reach for the hand holding the razor against his throat! George Hearn (2001): George still looks and sounds amazing even though he’s a bit more restrained since this is a staged concert rather than a full-fledged production. I also like how he and Turpin said it together! Alan Armstrong: Ehhh, I don’t really think he’s suited to the character that much even though he is quite talented. He sounded too underwhelming for my taste. Also, I wonder what the audience was laughing at? Michael Cerveris: Another Todd with a powerful voice! Even though I’m not a fan of this minimalistic production. I love how his voice wavers toward the end, it adds a lot more rage and character to his performance and this moment! Michael Ball: Not a fan of his Todd either but I love the buildup as well as the spitting contempt in his voice. Plus that throat slash and the noises coming from the judge were SO good and genuine! Johnny Depp: I also don’t care for the Sweeney Todd film that much but HOLY GUACAMOLE was he good here! Like Hearn, he acts just like he’s been waiting forever for this moment and now he’s letting all that loss, rage, and sorrow he’s kept bottled up inside for all these years take over as he just GOES for it. Alan Rickman (I miss him so much) is also stunning! He gets to get a much longer look at Todd and the way he says “Benjamin Barker” just oozes “Oh you bastard.” Some excellent acting and cinematography choices were made here, and the (mostly) quieter voices and less exaggerated facial expressions made sense as film acting and stage acting are very different from each other.

This was very cool, but hope they had a spare set or they had all of the scenes with the theater in it first 😅

Michael Ball did it great, that was so emotional and insane.

I don't know, the only good performance for me is Deep's. Its much more nuanced than every other before it. The shift between insinuation and overt, murdering rage is just masterful, and it goes just perfectly with the crescendo of the music.

When George yeld "Benjamin Barker" it was the most triumphant screams I've ever heard. You felt this was his mission and he's completed it. But with this scene, I feel like the gore and brutality Bertin used in the film helped make the kill a lot more impactful as well as helping it stand out from the others Sweeny killed

Of course you can´t really compare movies to stage productions, but Johnny Depp is the best Sweeney Todd in my opinion - dark, dangerous, insane, but also emotional, broken and sad - he has it all. And I really like his versatile voice. I know that the original is supposed to be funny, too. But I prefer the Tim Burton gothic version of the musical.

No matter how many times I see this sequence, I get anxious at the thought of the actual 'take' going wrong on the day of filming. If it had done, imagine the cost and delay to the entire project!

This disfigurement was ridiculously plain. Compared to what the actors show us for deformity onstage in the original musical, this is laughably simple and unremarkable. It was my biggest disappointment in the movie.

Anyone know where I can find this? What I mean is when the film came out on DVD before, this clip wasn't in the making of the film before.

The chandelier honestly looks gorgeous. So huge and sparkly. Very clean. The chandelier’s fire can burn you very badly. It can’t result into chandeliers getting bigger like in Harry Potter, the chandelier can result in dropping by mistake, and getting fire all over your clothes. That can happen, but chandeliers can be big, some can be small.

I had hoped to find a cover of this song some day. I've heard some of the greats sing it: Samuel Ramey, Andre Bochelli, Jim Neighbors....Mr. Karimloo's version (in this concert) is powerful, majestic and (dare I say it) equal to any.
