Here is what they sent out for the latest updates: 1) Change from magnets to screws After much testing and discussion with our supplier, we confirmed that screws would be the best option to secure the keyboard, maintain a fuss free experience and retain the best typing experience. 2) ZMK-based PCB + removal of 2.4Ghz dongle After much exploration and discussion, we’ve decided to work with Cipulot to develop a ZMK-based PCB which will allow for better battery life, extended lifespan and longevity of the keyboard. While ZMK cannot support 2.4Ghz at the moment, the development of ZMK Studio will allow customers access to a real-time keymap editor as well as other improvements in the future. 3) Series 2 Keycaps: PBT Dyesub We’re also excited to share that the keycaps will be PBT dyesub (instead of ABS), which will be more durable and resistant to oil and grease buildup. We’re more than halfway through mold production and keycap production will begin in early November. 4) Preparation for mass production We’ve finalised all design changes and the production of the extrusion die, CNC jigs and anodisation jigs has begun. Mass production is scheduled to start in November and assembly of the keyboards will follow quickly. 5) RGB Backlighting With all the changes, we’ve also decided to bring back RGB as ZMK supports per-key RGB configuration. We understand that this is a key selling point for many customers and we’ve been working hard to bring it back. 6) Estimated delivery date In order to implement all the changes, we estimate the delivery date for the Systems keyboards and Series 2 keycaps to be in January 2025.

Thanks, this looks beautiful. 2 minor feedbacks: Allow mixing and matching the white/black keycaps with the black/white cases, and run the polling rate at 240Hz (maximum supported by Bluetooth) when in Bluetooth mode instead of 90Hz, if possible. Apple's Bluetooth keyboards and mice now run at 240Hz instead of 90Hz since the latest macOS Sequoia 15.1 update. This will ensure that the Bluetooth mode won't feel as noticeably behind 2.4GHz wireless and wired as it typically does on most products.

Hi, I'm a big fan of Monokei keyboards. Unfortunately, my Tomo's PCB recently dead, and I haven't been able to find a replacement anywhere. I've tried contacting them through Discord but haven't received a response. Does anyone know if they plan to restock extra PCBs or if there's another source that ships to Thailand? Any help would be greatly appreciated! -- Btw, I sent an email a couple of weeks ago but haven’t received a reply. Could you please let me know if the project has been terminated?

It seems I'm one of the few who actually don't care at all that the RGB has been removed from the Systems board since I wanted to use only white backlighting to begin with. Although, one question I have about the battery size in general: Why that battery size specifically and not something like a 1500mah battery? Are the inner components tight enough to the point where a larger battery would compromise all the internals, or maybe another reason? Edit: I use keyboards almost exclusively wired, so battery size isn't really as important to me. Just wanted to know why the decision for that battery size was made, given that the systems is marketed to be an "on the go" type of board

Removing RGB from the Systems keyboard is a bad move. You're putting a very low 760mAh battery in the systems, which is the issue, not the RGB. The Nuphy Air75 V2 has a 4000mAh battery and RGB. The Keychron K3 Max has a 2000mAh battery and RGB. Even the LoFree Flow, with no RGB, has a much higher battery capacity. The cheap Logitech MX Mechanical has a 1500mAh battery. All of your competitors have a battery that has thee to five times the capacity, if not more. Cheaping out by using a very low capacity battery in what seems to be designed as a high end product is the issue here, not the RGB. The average cell phone has a 3000mAh battery, for reference, even the cheap ones. Even if you end up deciding on leaving out the RGB, the 760mAh battery you're including here is way below industry standards, especially for this price point.

You guys removed RGB?? I was looking forward to having the option for RGB specifically. I already ordered and I bought lots of extras and everything. I usually set a static light option anyways depending on my deskmat, wallpaper, or other PC setup. I have other customs keebs that don't have lighting at all and was looking for more with lighting options. I like static green and blues but now only white with the removal...😬 Can't we order with RGB as an optional extra?? I almost always use my keebs as wired anyways.

Removing the RGB option? Sigh...Might cancel preorder then. I can't imagine that the difference in battery life was significant enough to remove a customization option in a keyboard that's supposed to be all about customization. Maybe give people the option between RGB/White?
@coreytaylor736710 ай бұрын
I don't know why they removed it either... Already ordered mine with lots of extras and everything. Usually use my keebs wired anyways. Should just default to static colour at %50~ brightness once unplugged.
@Blacksadify10 ай бұрын
Yeah, agreed. I think they should offer a less expensive generic white version, and an RGB version like Keychron does. At this point, this is just slowly turning into a more expensive Lofree Flow.@@coreytaylor7367
@MONOKEI10 ай бұрын
@Blacksadify The difference in battery life between RGB and White backlighting is about two times the duration on full brightness. Having a keyboard that can power through a workday without needing a recharge is a big deal to us. With battery life being a priority, we made the tough call to switch to White backlighting. Ultimately, the decision is yours and we'll be happy to provide support on the next steps. Happy to spend more time talking to you about this via [email protected] to provide more personalised attention and address any questions you have.
@Blacksadify10 ай бұрын
The Nuphy Air75 V2 has a 4000mAh battery and RGB, while the Systems has a 760mAh battery and now no RGB due to battery life limitations. Perhaps putting in a higher capacity battery in a much more expensive product would be the way to go. Being outdone by a much less expensive product isn't a great start.@@MONOKEI

The knob not flush with the low profile is a miss- it sticks out too much and ruins the silhouette. It immediately caught my attention and is a proverbial sore thumb. The bezels are too thick for what the low profile form factor offers, and the default colorway options are quite plain. The keyboard design is reminiscent of a dell office keyboard. The keychron K1 is much slimmer without a bezel and lighter, not to mention a lot less expensive. It is also customizable by swapping the keycaps and switches. What is the target use case for this over other options out there?
