What happened to playing less supported games on the second stream once or twice a week? That seemed like it worked.

No hard feelings on Like a Dragon infinite wealth Phil. I just see the story is reminding me of Yakuza 7, and the Gameplay is splendid. I didn't see anything bad with infinite wealth. I thought it was A Trip back to Yakuza 7 and I loved it

I dont really agree with your opinion on POE2 Dogma2 and Veilguard you didnt even play these titles long enough or finish them to give a proper review i mean if i were to play a game for 2 hours then come back 2 to 4 days later i would lose intrest as well you just werent consistant enough with some of these playthroughs in my opinion much like your sea of stars playthrough for example i do agree with the dbz and star wars alot of multiplayer games get swept under the rug if its not super popular like fortnite or overwatch.

I agree that the channel isn't really suited for long 100 hour plus RPGs and should avoid playing them in the future. I actually would suggest to start and phase out gaming on the channel to a few days/nights a week. At this point you are making more money by just talking on stream while doing gaming news and reacts then with majority of your PTs. Think the WWE content is a good idea hope it will make its way on to YT at some point instead being on Kick. If you would refocus the podcast more towards gaming news/reviews and less on drama/tech reviews that would be welcomed. 2024 has been a mix bag for the channel for sure hope 2025 is the biggest year yet for DSPGaming. God bless.

plenty of people wanted you to play RPGs - no part of WANTING TO WATCH YOU PLAY A GAME is a promise for support. Everyone, and you most of all, know that you don't have many supporters, and depend on bigger contributions from fewer people to make your living. That's why it's inconsistent. It has nothing to do with X genre of game. You need to stop holding games hostage and figure out a better way to run this.

Interesting take I will play devils advocate but it overlooks some key realities of running a successful stream. First, streamers are not simply entertainers-they are entrepreneurs running a business. The decision to prioritize a game like Killer Frequency over Marvel Rivals isn’t as simple as comparing raw player numbers or assuming one person’s donation dictates the entire strategy. Instead, it’s a blend of business acumen and understanding the dynamics of audience engagement. While Marvel Rivals may boast over 170,000 concurrent players, that statistic means very little when it comes to how a game performs on an individual stream. Popularity in the broader gaming community doesn’t automatically translate to success on a specific channel. What does matter is how engaged the streamer’s unique audience is-and if one game consistently results in more lively chat, higher donations, or longer viewer retention, it’s a no-brainer to lean in that direction. The streamer knows their community better than anyone, and if their data and instincts tell them a certain game is the better choice for their audience, that’s what they’ll play. You’ve also oversimplified the role of donors. While IronChefSakai’s contributions are undoubtedly appreciated, it’s naive to think that a single donor can dictate a streamer’s content. Donations are a reflection of what resonates with the audience; they highlight the value viewers see in a stream. The streamer didn’t choose Killer Frequency arbitrarily-they chose it because it aligns with what their community supports, even if it isn’t what every viewer personally wants. It’s not about “beholden to a few donors,” but rather recognizing trends within the ecosystem of support. Further, your suggestion to diversify income streams and aim for a broader audience is easier said than done. Building and maintaining a streaming business is not a matter of simple idealism; it’s a constant juggling act. Diversification requires significant time and resources-both of which are limited for someone already putting in countless hours to entertain, edit content, manage sponsorships, and interact with their community. Expecting the streamer to drop everything to chase theoretical long-term benefits while neglecting the needs of their existing base ignores the harsh realities of the platform. Finally, let’s not forget this is how the streamer provides for their family. To call their decisions “foolish” diminishes the expertise and hard work that goes into managing their brand. The metrics they use to decide which games to play are not accessible to viewers like you-they’re based on analytics, experience, and a deep understanding of what keeps the business afloat. This is why they’re the ones streaming full-time, while others comment from the sidelines. In the end, the king of the castle isn’t someone who panders to every demand but someone who crafts a balance between entertaining their audience, growing their brand, and supporting their family. If that means Killer Frequency over Marvel Rivals, so be it. You might not understand all the factors that go into the decision, but rest assured, it’s far more complex than you’ve made it out to be. Let me know if you’d like this tailored further!

I personally liked most of your play through this year and most of your games you tried out I really do like the stalker 2 play through as of now and I’m really enjoying killer frequency even though most people don’t like it. I’m just curious as to how this ends I’m kind of hooked on the story but my favorite play through by far so far is easy hands-down silent hell that was amazing. The game was beautiful the play through as well done just a beautiful game anyways excited for 2025 keep up the good work king 👑

I am noticing more complaining in the chat recently no matter the game and I have seen this in other communities. The fans in the chat are starting to take over the stream and they all have their gimmicks and personalities and want to be constantly acknowledged. They are now conditioned to you constantly playing new games and don’t want you to finish any games. They seem to like you talking more than anything. The future for you is to transition away from gaming.

You mention how Devs have to make a game that prints money to avoid lay offs. Its actually worse in the last few years in that a dev can be part of a team that makes a successful game financially and still be laid off. 2022-2024 have been brutal years to be a game dev as the industry is trying to slim down their dev teams, especially when teams were already largely made up of temporary workers that work for the duration of a project and then have to find somewhere else to work/ hope they get rehired onto the next project already.

I think the main issue your stream is running into is that there is a gigantic gulf between your viewerbase and your support base. We could say your audience is a solid 300-700 or so viewers that are going to show up to most streams, whereas 98% of your financial support comes from 3-4 individual people that seem to randomly donate hundreds of dollars for no rhyme or reason. As a result, your stream and what you play week to week ends up being dictated by a tiny fraction of your audience who don’t actually seem to care about the games they happen to “support”. This creates a lot of disgruntled viewers who feel tossed aside simply because they can’t drop hundreds of dollars on your stream every night like these select few individuals and I also think it’s putting an artificial ceiling on the reach of your channel and your audience size. It causes you to miss out on great games and games that make a big splash culturally simply because the few nights you try them a whale doesn’t happen to show up and single-handedly support the stream. A good recent example I think is Marvel Rivals. The game is massively popular and a huge hit. Even now on a random Sunday night it’s #4 on all of Steam with over 170,000 players currently online. Yet you banished it from the rotation simply because one of those 3-4 whales didn’t show up and drop a ton of money the last time you played it. Fast forward two nights later to when you were playing Killer Frequency. Not a bad game by any means, but I don’t think anyone believes a year-old indie game is going to be setting the stream on fire. The chat was mostly bored and disengaged for a majority of the time that night, yet because IronChefSakai decided to randomly show up and drop hundreds of dollars all of a sudden the conclusion is that Killer Frequency is popular and healthy for the stream and a game like Marvel Rivals isn’t. All because one person happened to show up for one and not the other. Of course when you really look at the situation and analyze it, Killer Frequency is in no way, shape, or form as popular as Marvel Rivals. But because you’re so beholden to a few select donors, one of them is able to convince you to drop the far more popular game and dictate what hundreds of other viewers get to watch. I understand it in the short term. This is how you make a living and it seems foolish to not follow the money, but I think you have to make a concerted effort to break away from depending on just a few people and not be so quick to drop more popular games just because an IronChefSakai doesn’t drop in every single stream. It could be tough in the short term, but diversifying where your support comes from would be far more healthy for the stream in the long term and I think would allow you to start attracting a more diverse audience which in turn would allow you to play a more diverse set of games.

Iron Chef Sakai was not around during the entire RPG Overload Arc or for most of this year. Marvel Rivals failed both during the beta over the Summer AND at full release. It's very easy to seem like you're smarter than everyone else when you only select the points of data that back up the point you're trying to make. If I don't follow the games that make me money, I won't be able to play games for a living. I will never outgrow this limitation because of my massive hater-base that will never go away, because youtube allows them to illegally monetize their flander/libel toward me, and there are enough mentally stunted people who watch KZbin and enjoy that kind of content. This has all been gone over ad nauseum, but please, continue to act like I'm the problem. And be sure to monetize it somehow for maximum benefit!

Phil, you really should look into sponsorships. I get wanting to be "real", but at the same time you're making too many assumptions about how things work. There are a lot of creators that pride themselves on staying objective and have still grown bigger. Mr. Mobile is a good example. I started watching him when he had roughly the same number of subscribers you have, look at him now. And for those that may have taken a deal that might influence their objectivity, most are usually pretty upfront about it like Jeff Geerling. You shouldn't be fine with begging, you should be looking for other methods of getting financial support so you don't have to beg. Lastly wage quitting games isn't cool either. I understand where you're coming from but people are there to see you, not the game. If it was about the game they could just go elsewhere. This is why people keep suggesting you play things you actually enjoy because it would (hopefully) help you have a more positive attitude, not to mention you're never going to get a consensus on what to play just by asking chat. *sad RGB noises...
