I was just looking for common chord progressions in anime to make meme songs and now I've learned something vital in music theory thanks great video

New to Piano here. what keys do the number mean?
@TridentTrist2 ай бұрын
Note: Just because the chord progression is the same, doesn’t mean that the sound will be the exact same. Chord progressions are just how the chords within a certain scale fluctuate. So a IV, V, VI chord progression may sound one way with a G Major scale, but completely different with a C Scale.

Why the minus after 3 and 6? Never seen that

It just means minor without typing “min”.

In Western music, the IV V VI is just called a “false conclusion” (implying that a “correct” conclusion would take you back to the major tonic I, instead of the minor parallel VI). I first consciously noticed it in the Lord of the Rings theme.

If I give those "anime" progression to western pop music producer but don't tell them to make anime music. Will it sounds like anime music or sounds like western pop music with those chord progression?

Absolutely perfect video until the last ten seconds. Didn't need the "does this progression actually SUCK?" engagement-bait at the end, hahah. The video was already good enough to comment on! Thanks so much for posting. This is seriously one of the best theory videos I've ever come across. Explaining why the chords in each chord family are so closely related and how these chord progressions all evolved and share the same functions was fantastic. Subscribed, thanks again!
