In my case, an EGD done 6 YPO showed that my Sleeve was made huge. So I never really had a “real Sleeve.” I was about to ask for Revision to RNY, but my NEW bariatric surgeon will likely recommend a Re-Sleeve. If that doesn’t do the trick, enter Zepbound. This video is 4 years old. It seems like Re-Sleeves are becoming more popular lately, than they were during the time of this video.

I wish that people who consider this diet could muster up the actions and self control they have in preparation for the surgery. All of a sudden obese people seem to be fully conscious of their eating habits and filled with drive to exercise and are able to lose the weight which they believe is impossible to do. But they do it. For the surgery. This proves that it is mental. This is body dysmorphia and the doctors prey on this to make money. This is a medical scam. Poor people 😢 who believe this is the answer. I wish we could simply tell people they had the surgery and allow the placebo effect to work. People, you cannot live well without your stomach.

What if you've had the sleeve, not high bmi, but have the reflux, doing the meds. How do you get away from the meds? You can't qualify for the new surgery.

I had GB four years ago. I never was able to get a sense of fullness (never had before it either). But I went from over 340 to 180. I gained some of it back (but have also been lifting weights/building muscle), so some of it is muscle. But I definitely started gaining fat as well. I started semaglutide recently. I think it compliments GB well. I do not regret the surgery one bit (I had no major issues with my surgery). Good video. :)

she is right, I just had surgery a few weeks ago and I was already regretting it. The recovery is painful uncomfortable and made me very depressed. I couldn’t eat and it made my mindset worse. However, once I dropped the first 15 pounds my perspective changed. No my biggest regret is, why didn’t I do this earlier?

Had RNY bypass august 2021. Went from 255 to 170 lbs on 1 year. Over 2 years gained 15 pounds. Couldn’t lose nor gain weight at 184 for last 2 years. Still good restrictions . Zepbound started June 2024. Now down to 160lb. Goal since beginning 150-155 for 5’5”. Was a good weight for me early 30’s. Now just turned 60. 130 pounds too boney on my large bone frame.. Still glad had RNY. Grateful for Zepbound..

Madamme you talk some good information. I think you need to look at why these alcohol sugars does the trick. My assumption from practical notes says these affect the stomach acidity levels lowering the ph and allowing the pyloric splinter to open.. the sugar alcohol liquid tincture herbals does the same thing also if not well diluted in water. This is important information for all. These sugar alcohols are causing acidic undigested chyme to move into dueodum and the trigger hormones and signals for pancreatic juices and little bile does not get involved. Leading to acidic chyme entering the soft tender small intestines and calling for h20 to come to the rescue. Hope your fans understand that avoidance of these substances are critical for fixing these issue.

I never had any gastric surgery, any surgery whatsoever on my stomach but I started having these symptoms a year ago. Since then it's gotten worse. I have to limit sugars to my cheat days, after some chocolate, pop and pizza yikes the sweating starts, the grumble and then the run to the bathroom. It's really cleaned up my diet going through this. I've had to stick to meat, real butter, cheese, vegetables and sprouted bread and have smaller meals more often to make sure that sugar spike doesn't happen. Thank you doc, this is the best explanation I've heard.

I've been running a bariatric surgery support group since 2001. I see patients far more than their surgeons do, so there are things they tell me they won't tell their surgeons. 9 out of every 10 patients who have their pouches stretched beyond the norm, were soda drinkers from the start... drinking them all day long. They also over ate consistently. I just never saw it with a patient who followed those particular rules.

I had the gastric sleeve 4 years ago without any history having acid reflux. I’ve been on and off protonix and Carafate for the last 2 years. I feel bloated and don’t really eat much anymore due to not being able to breathe. I never wanted bariatric surgery again. I’m scared of the bypass. But recently got diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus by my GI doctor. He says I can monitor and take PPIs for the rest of my life or have the bypass. I really don’t know what to do. Any advice is appreciated.

Help! We have been trying to figure out what is wrong with my daughter for her entire 16 years of life. We’ve seen a gastroenterologist and a rheumatologist and doctor after doctor. She has every single one of these symptoms when she eats… She also has ARFID AND HAS A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF FOODS THAT SHE CAN EAT. SO WHEN SHE EATS, SHE FEELS HORRIBLE. BUT EVERYTHING THAT I’M READING SO FAR IS CONNECTED TO GASTRIC SURGERIES. SHE’S NEVER HAD THAT… CAN YOU LEAD ME IN THE DIRECTION OF FINDING MORE INFORMATION ABOUT PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE EXPERIENCING THIS WHO’VE NEVER HAD SURGERY BEFORE?
@almarios91644 ай бұрын
May I recommend that she gets tested for MTHFR. Please find a functional Medine Dr. If you go through your insurance, you will be in a system that wants to draw all the value that they have written down on their contract potentially causing more harm. My problems started when the gastroenterologist made a biopsy of my stomach lining.

Hi Dr. Hodges! Thank you for this video. I had a Lap Gastric Bypass RNY in September 2023. I started to notice my hair thinning/shedding/falling out in October 2023. And now a little over 6 months post op I am still losing a fair amount of hair. I'm making sure I get enough protein. I do take my vitamins and supplements religiously. My recent labs were all normal. My Iron was on the low end of normal so I'm now taking an Iron supplement with Vitamin C in it. I'm really hoping the additional Iron will help and that my hair will stop falling out. I'm down 98 pounds. I lost 40 pounds during pre op period, and I've lost 58 since my surgery and going strong. I really appreciate your helpful and informative videos! 💗😁💗

I am suffering from what I think is severe GERD, Post sleeve surgery in 2018. I have gained significant weight back and have no all these horrible symptoms. Horrible heart burn, acid reflux, throwing up in my sleep at least once a week and my mouth feels like I sucked on battery acid all the time and nothing helps. Of course getting into Gastro takes months as they are super booked and they say you can always go to the ER. ER won’t do anything for you. They will just tell you to go see a specialist. The scariest part is throwing up in my sleep. Praying I get answers when I finally see a doctor in 3 weeks. Super scared they may recommend bypass surgery.
@ELchambelan8 ай бұрын
I feel you. I’m in the same boat. GERD after having sleeve. Dr. Telling me to have bypass for GERD. But if I’m being honest my GERD is not too bad. Not like yours at least. I got diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus. Precancerous condition. That’s the only reason I’m considering bypass. But like I said my GERD is not that bad and I don’t need weight loss. So having the bypass seems a bit to drastic and life changing for me. At least right now.
