If your lowest throttle value is 30% as soon as you flick your throttle hold the motor will instantly go to 30% throttle which wouldn't be ideal. The first point on the throttle curve needs to be zero so when your throttle stick is back the throttle will be off.
@rcspeedracer7 күн бұрын
Not true at all. Throttle does not need a zero setting especially when you fly 3d. If it had zero it could reset to a soft spool up if you try to fly low head speed and go full negative pitch. Also the 30% is a standard for Castle and is a reference point that sets the predetermined headspeed for that radio point. If flying scale or basic then you could use the zero thing. Otherwise this gives a true 3 usable headspeeds for 3d style flying.
@BradHaines19637 күн бұрын
@@rcspeedracer What sort of 3d are you going to do at 30% throttle. Not much at all unless you want a boom strike. First point must always be at 0%.
@rcspeedracer7 күн бұрын
@@BradHaines1963 You are not at 30% throttle. 30% dictates what that particular headspeed is set at. And you can do low headspeed 3d without any issues when properly set up. 30% could be a 1500rpm set up for example. This is fine. All 3d is not fast and hard. Zero is good for scale or beginners. That’s it. When throttle hold is kicked off it will spool up and you always want to kill headspeed when landing even if it is a baby autorotation. I’ve been doing this for many years and have set up some pro pilot machines. I’m happy to discuss this more with you if you would like to learn more about it. But this is the proper way of setting it up.
@Civerad7 күн бұрын
@@BradHaines1963 he's running governor at Set RPM mode, meaning the Castle ESC is going to look for 3 value ranges which is assigned to 3 RPM values. So if he sets it at 30% the ESC will govern at the first RPM bank. Heli mode also works a bit different from Airplane mode, there is always a slow spoolup which can be configured.
@BradHaines19636 күн бұрын

I have a question one of my M2’s flies perfect with no drift though I noticed it’s not at zero pitch unless it’s in idle up and then it’s pretty close. Would levelling the swash fix that issue in normal mode or do I not need to worry about it. I know about resetting the servos and levelling the swash. I’m not sure if that also takes care of setting zero pitch. Any advice you have would be appreciated, thanks.

Great flying and beautiful helis. I have plastic servo horns on all servos on my helis because I experienced that they get broken in the first place when I crashed to avoid more severe damage. Are you not afraid that the metal servohorns you are using on the Steam could cause more damage to servos, pitch conttol arms and so on? Do they feel better than the plastic serv horns when flying hard?
@rcspeedracer4 ай бұрын
Plastic servo horns would be just fine for me for all of your stated reasons. But when I let me kids fly my helis they fly really hard 3d and I have seen first hand that it is possible to just strip the splines on a plastic servo horn flying really hard. So I just do it to avoid stripping the horns. For most pilots good plastic ones would probably be fine.
