Explaining the planes really helped me a lot. I think today I FINALLY sdid my first windmill, purely by accident! No, seriously, I was trying, but struggling. I am legally blind, and have no one in person to show me. I think I figured out a lot of it has to do with your hands, and you how position and then twist them. I struggle learning the right way to hold my poi for these different tricks. Really needed that slo-mo, so THANK YOU SO MUCH! Please, PLEASE, make more slo-mo videos. They really help. I have enough eyesight to watch a video, but I have to watch it many many times. Thank you! -Molly from Florida

As a legally blind (my entire life) elderly person (the last couple of years, haha), I appreciate you AND how you put the captions on the screen like that, in your own font. They appeared at the right intervals, no lag. Easy to see! MUCH better than the captions KZbin provides. Thank you so much. I am a newbie. Not only am I now old and recovering from foot surgery, but I'm grieving for my Mom who died last Christmas, and I am nearly blind, making learning poi, or how to dance, or anything like that, a real challenge. I am taking DrexFactor Poi's online course, but it is taking me FOREVER! And what you said in your other video that got me here, (about hip reels), about injuries, boy, you are NOT wrong! I had no idea how much strain and injury I would be inflicting upon myself, especially in my chest, and the muscles that run up into that backside of my skull! M<and oh man. I always get a lot of excitement for doing a one handed butterfly, as well as laying down in my back and doing a three beat or butterfly with the chains shortened.

You should actually squeeze out the dipped wicks with plastic gloves above the dipping Station, lamp oil is quite toxic for the environment. If you just spin in, the oil will go all over the place and into the ground.

It's important to learn to make your own poi when starting out as there aren't many places other than festivals and hooping weekends to buy poi even though the professionally made ones are easier to use.

I bought some hand made poi at a festival in the 00s but wasnt sent the instructions I was promised so bought a DVD. The poi was too small and light so more suitable for children. But I couldnt find a teacher locally only hooping teachers so took that up instead. But poi is much more portable and needs less space than hooping so find it strange that it isnt as popularas hooping where I live. I later bought more professional poi and a book in London but the book shows the tricks but not the warm up exercises and how to build up to do the tricks in easy steps. Also I would get hassled carrying a hoop to and from classes and preferred to use my own hoop rather one provided by the teacher that I wasn't used to.
