You have to include great runs. by Bobby Reynolds.....He was the first sophomore in college football to be named to the first team Look Magazine coaches selection....Also, Mr. Touchdown, the song was named after him......Too bad we don't have film, of Johnny Bender and other greats.....

too bad you can't purposefully kick a ball forward past the line of scrimmage. No TD, Mizzou wins.

My dad was sitting in a recliner watching this punt return. He was so excited he rocked back so hard the chair went over backwards when Rodger’s scored the TD! We had to help him up off the floor! A memory for life! He’s gone now but I’ll never forget!

Johnny Rodgers was one of the most electrifying players in the history of college football. He would go on to win the Heisman Trophy in 1972. Too bad injuries prevented him from being a star in the NFL where he played briefly for the then San Diego Chargers: the team that drafted him out of Nebraska in the 1st round of the 1973 NFL draft.

I saw Johnny Rodgers play a preseason game against the Rams before he was hurt. I had never seen him in person. He caught an out pattern in front of a CB, faked outside, and went inside and out run the safety for a TD. The CB stepped outside and fell to his knees when he took the fake to the outside and tried to follow to the inside. He had not lost a step laying in the Canadian Football League. He was hurt shortly after and was gone. The only player I ever saw close to Rodgers was Billy Sims from OU.

Im a huge J.R fan. He played in Montreal for several seasons, the ordinary superstar was his nickname. He used to drive a Rolls-Royce and wore a fur coat in July. What a character. One of my favorite all time players.
