Tributes to service members and pride in service are all well and good, but I clicked on this to learn about the "state of the nation," and I feel like I got about 30 minutes of Petraeus congratulating himself for his service and bragging about his consulting work, 15 minutes excusing himself for not being a politician, 10 minutes of praising her brother, and maybe 5 minutes of real analysis. I guess the other part of the title is "Reflections" but I dunno, I guess I was expecting more discussion of actual ops and how they might be relevant to the current state of play.

Very good episode I really enjoy listening to General Dunford share his wisdom. I have used his storied example about his BnCo’s “one and only leadership lesson” on more than one occasion. Ryan I also enjoyed your relatable lesson of trusting subordinates in relation to allowing and trusting your daughter and friends to bake cookies. Gen Dunford is so spot on with leaders with more experience wanting to jump in and help because of more experience at the expense of stalling others growth.
