I definitely think there is an adjustment period to the nfl but how much do you think that can be offset but the VR stuff? I remember somewhere they were talking about the extra reps that he gets out of that a week. Do you think those extra reps are enough to outgrow the “rookie” label as far as his development and realistically be say a “second year qb” within his rookie season or does it not make enough of an impact to change that at all.

The better question to ask about Forbes is why was he lined up against Moore, AJ Brown, and other bigger receivers. Once again a failure of JDR to understand his players’ strengths, something our new staff prioritizes.

I once heard a wise man say of a particular QB that played for this franchise that in 7 on 7’s he watched the Qb pull the ball down and run. In 7on7’s. This wise man said there is no reason whatsoever for a Qb to scramble in 7 on 7’s. I swear I’m rooting for the kid but it seems like my RG3 ptsd is getting worse when I hear this bc that was my big issue with JD, tuck and run accept now there’s 11 men out there and the chances of this kid getting lit up like a Christmas tree by a man much bigger than the one we saw throw him 10 yards in college, well it’s inevitable. Unfortunately it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when with JD and how bad will the injury be? And how often? Bc you didn’t get any bigger since last year, but literally everyone else did and you ain’t shit sittin on that bench. So to see Craig hype this man up for things that are troublesome just goes to show if you have a mancruash on someone, no matter what that player does he’ll always be Craig’s Hercules.

Forbes was a foolish pick by foolish men trying to be cute in assuming they saw something no one else saw. End of story. Whether Christian was sitting there or not. At best he was a late round luxury/take a chance pick.

Jayden isn't "skinny" he's just not big. There's a difference. Emanuel Forbes is skinny. The two aren't comparable.

I had to listen to the podcast myself just to make sure there wasn't something taken out of context, and nope, Craig covered it thoroughly. Never lost respect for a person as much as I did for Mina over this take. Would love to see her respond to what Craig had to say because he basically verbalized all the thoughts that were in my head after hearing what she said.

We do have the pieces to compete for the NFC EAST. Competing for the NFC EAST crown is not saying we will win it nor is it saying Daniels and company win a playoff game . 1 and done for a new staff and all the new pieces would be great and even just being a game out of the tourney would probably be good (such results, though, may actually be false positives). Hoffman, your Stroud arguments are what bolsters my optimism. Every time someone argues about who your other shinies are who were nobodies or prospects themselves, why do they think we might have some nobody or prospect that can be the guy? Arguments against optimism is that while many teams often seem to pop-up out of nowhere, it is usually talent and the right staff coming together at the right time. It also is hard to say who that is and needs to be sustainable (not the product of other teams having an off season like 2020, for instance). Also, though it can be countered with the new ownership and front office argument, it hasn't been us since 1981.

yeah the optimism is unearned atm. These are OTAs, too many question marks in the roster to get hyped up, I can't even say we'll beat the bears. Let's focus on winning the division first

People though Darrell Green wasn't big enough either and many were sock at how good of a tackler he was. I'm not saying Forbes is or will be what Green was but if he learns to play off just enough that it would be an obvious push off not giving the receiver a chance to use that weight advantage and work on his closing skills he might excel. Hitting and tackling is not just about size. There is technique and using speed as it is mass X velocity that produces force. That's is one of the things the Darrell really under stood as he would use that sudden burst that he had to drive all 180 lbs. and nock the living shit out of a ball carrier. A 180 lbs. at 20 mph is quite a lot of force to get hit but not only do you need to have that sudden burst you also have to have the want to. If he works on those things and has the want to his size wont be such an issue.

I am waiting to see the joint practice/game with the Dolphins that is the first measuring stick for me, it's the 2nd preseason game so we will probably see the Starters the longest then and see how coaching and new additions are melding.

Look guys you have to understand how much jealousy and hypocrisy there is as far as this franchise is concerned. A successful commanders team means less success for the American team. A lot of other franchises are at risk if the commanders are no longer bottom feeders and on top of that these naysayers are chasing clout and they need to sell their program. Snyder helped them a lot over the years doing that but now that he’s no longer here hell let’s make something up to remain relevant.

Mike Davis needs reps either way and its OTAs so the depth chart is kind of a formality unless you're one of like 5 players on the entire team. Also trying out BSJ and Davis one day, Forbes and BSJ another day or lastly, Forbes and Davis might be how they do things and probably should because your goal is the best two. Then the others you figure out where they land. That said I trust Joe and DQ as well as the power that the front office gave them to put the best players on the field at the start and through the rest of the season. If you cant earn the job you don't deserve it period.

Forbes is more of a zone corner. When playing man coverage and if you are beat, you don't look back because you are trying to catch up because you are beat. It is easier for people watching to see what he should do in comparison to being the one chasing down the receiver after being beat on the route. In man coverage you play the man and look for the ball once you get in position to do so, if you are beat, you are not in position. In zone, you play your zone and read the quarterback at the same time. If he was in zone with eyes on the QB, it is likely that the pass is not thrown.

@derekb2405 he needs some meat and potatoes, but some guys are just built like that. He will add some weight when his grow man weight kicks in, hopefully he can survive that long. If any staff can get the talent out of him, Dan Quinn has the reputation to do so.

What pissed me off about a lot of the Commanders’ QBs over the last 15 years or so, outside of Kirk, is that they don’t routinely hit the easy passes. So far, based on what everyone is saying, that is something Daniels shouldn’t struggle with. It sounds ridiculous but McNabb wasn't the only one that threw worm killers…

I don't think anything u see rn in OTAs is set in stone. I think they want to get the best combination of players out there and they have to move guys around to see what's what. If this were training camp and Forbes wasn't out there with the starters it would say more about how they feel about him. From what I understand DQ and Joe Whitt really liked Forbes coming out of the draft and probably would've drafted him had he been there when the Cowboys picked so I don't see them giving up on him so soon. With better coaching and a better scheme he should be improved from last season

This is one of those times that people not on the coaching staff trying to say what they are thinking and wanting. One thing i can say ( being a coach) you give the people you brought in first try at positions and then move people around to see where all the players fit in the scheme.

It should be obvious to anyone who understands basic math that DC does not have the money. Any attempts to find it is fiscal suicide. For a city like DC to even entertain this lunacy is worse than gross negligence.

I think what struck me the most is just how comfortable he seems at this level. No tightness, extremely relaxed, doesn't have to force leadership, all around unintimidated by the big stage. I still wish they would have taken Drake (although that could fade quickly) and been patient but I get it. In spades. Jayden's experience shows much more than I thought it would. He's ready. Absolutely in love with the kid and pray he's the first dual threat type quarterback to break through and win titles. Besides a little body armor he has all the tools to do so. All in on #JD5
