Another great video. A couple of questions.1) In a case like this, would a Rock Island crew take the train from start to finish? 2) On a short stint, say 50 miles from one junction to another junction where the train would get onto the Rock, and then back on home rails, would a CNW crew take the train over the Rock with a Rock Island pilot on board?
@rimodeler79634 күн бұрын
@@toddbehrends1373 - Detouring trains have the detouring railroads crew on board with a pilot from the owning railroad. This would apply to both of your questions. Thanks much for your comments! Mike

Amazing view of your amazing layout with a very long freight wow. The locomotives are quite impressive . Is the bell an electronic bell ? I do not know when they started to use one [in real life] Lots of great view along the layout such has the view over the bridge and Clear Lake Jct. Always a pleasure to see your video and layout in action.
@rimodeler79634 күн бұрын
The locomotive bell is a “gong” bell made by Western Railroad Supply. These bells are mechanical bells similar (same) as the bells on grade crossing flashers and gates. These bells were mounted on the nose of the locomotive and were unique to the C&NW and a few other railroads. Thank you for watching the video and I appreciate your comments. Mike

@@rimodeler7963 Thanks Mike. I noticed the bell on the nose but wasn't sure if it was "active" during that time. Thank you very much for the explanation. I appreciate it . Syl

As always, a fantastic video Mike! The layout looks great! Those CNW SD45s are neat units by not having the dynamic brakes. I actually weathered one for a friend who lives nearby. Thanks for the video! John

M&StL has interested me ever since I received a Lionel set containing a car with their paint scheme in the mid-60s. I always thought it was cool. I’ve long been fond of the midwest grangers although I’ve always lived in Oklahoma.

Mike, Great video! Your layout is a joy to operate. It runs so well. Just needs some Alco power in red/ light gray.😉🤔 Looking forward to my next time there. Hope to see you in a couple of weeks at the Red River RPM in Forrest Hill.

The layout was truly a pleasure to operate on - plenty of room to open up the throttle between towns, as well as the design of the towns/industries themselves. I also gained a new appreciation for the Rock Island's [many!] liveries. Thank you, Mike!

Thanks for posting another Mike! Fantastic as always. I purchased the same IPhone microphone we talked about during my last visit as I hope to take videos of my layout in the near future. Do you use a gimble device when taking videos, or are you just holding the phone in your hand? The videos are really steady and smooth.
@rimodeler7963Ай бұрын
Hi John - I have a gimble device but haven't had much luck using it (most likely operator error). I use a tripod and do some free-handing, but mostly try to keep the camera fixed. Thanks for watching! Mike
