Why does the pro-flex website training say 3/4 to full turn with wrench & this video says 1/4 to 1/2? Which is correct?
@williamyates633521 күн бұрын
After finishing the training, there was a specific question with 3/4 to full turn being the correct answer, so I guess I answered my own question. I'm surprised the company hasn't corrected this video.

Is there a fitting that would allow me to tie into a 5/8 copper line with a flare fitting to continue on then with the Pro Flex to run to a Natural Gas Tank? This would keep me from having to replace all the copper, I am needing to move my tank further out

Thanks. I'm having trouble locating that male to male fitting at Lowes. Where to buy it? Closest thing I can find is, PFMF1212. Actually, if I do google image search, I I cannot seem to find images showing PFMF1212 disassembled. If I'm reading correctly, the PFMF1212C has 1/2 male thread nipples on both sides like this video, and, if needed, an inside 3/8 thread female. Great videos!

I do not recommend this product. If you are not a licensed Master Gas fitter you should NOT be doing gas work. Everything he says about metal to metal fittings is a crock of malarkey. They are by far a far superior product to proflex. I cant count the number of times I have found this crap with leaks all over it. Do not do gas work yourself!!! You are going to blow something up or burn it down and God forbid maime or kill somebody. Use and expert who is licensed and insured to install gas lines and I wouldnt give two cents for proflex gas line. Ask them to provide or show you their license too. I cant count the number of times of found leaks or incorrect fittings not apporved for pressurized gas that were installed by plumbers or homeowners that had no business doing gas work. Never let a plumber or electrician do gas work unless they are certified and licensed and insured!!! And I am a licensed Master Gas Fitter with 23 years of experience. Ive seen damn near eveything but still find ridiculous and dangerous stuff that people had no business doing all the time.

I beg to differ. Pro-Flex CSST is not crap. I read the instructions carefully, got the card (I know, it's not hard to get that card), but my pipe and fittings all passed the town inspector's pressure test with flying colors (no drop in pressure at all). But I do agree that you had better know what you're doing with this stuff! Gas is dangerous. BTW when doing the work, which also included running 50 feet of 1" black pipe, I found a tiny gas leak on the utility side of the meter that had probably been there for years. The gas company tech thanked me for finding it and fixed it in a jif. And I had full permits for both the electrical and gas work that I did (installing a standby generator). It's now over 2 years later and no leaks of any kind. Also, to repeat what I've said before, Flak-Jacket insulation is pretty tough stuff. Obviously not as tough as black pipe, but neither are the flexible dryer and range hoses, which aren't as tough as Flak-Jacket. Just sayin'.

Just checked with the Pro-Flex people. The fourth piece is a "high-temperature gasket." It was pre-installed in my fittings when I received them new. In the replacement ring/gasket kit, there is a new gasket included. Maybe newer fittings come with it separately.

their website pdf also says 5 psi. But testing up to 40psi is supported they say. But they also say to "when testing at pressures above 7.5 PSIG-ensure regulators, ball valves, and appliances are removed or bypassed during testing." for the 25 ft 1/2 pipe. What needs more than 5 psi, is my remaining question, I was ready to buy until I saw the 5 psi at Lowes. Regarding Tankless water heater and Mr Heater wall heater and furnace, and comparing to steel pipe, or using this with some black steel as part of main incoming trunk line.

I like that system. Hooking up the tubing to the Pro-Flex termination flange, I had some trouble getting the male threads started into the female nut (the flange). I had to use some copper tubing with a 90 degree bend in it to push hard against the o-ring to get the threads started. The copper tubing helped straighten the CSSI tube while I got the threads started.

I love this stuff. So easy to work with.
@PJBeee3 жыл бұрын
Stuff works great. My experience with the 1" (Flak-Jacket), however is that the split ring (first washer in) does not go easily into the collet. You just might need to force the collet over it with a screwdriver, and it's OK to do this without the 2nd washer or O-ring being installed. You can then test that the collet screws at least loosely onto the fitting, and then unscrew from the fitting and install the solid washer and O-ring. And of course, the split washer has nothing to do with the gas seal itself - the O-ring mate-to-fitting does that - so go ahead and force the split ring in. I've not had any leaks of any kind. But the 1" Flak-jacket stuff is pretty stiff, so be prepared to spend some time putting the fittings on, which includes the time to remove some of the jacket, as the instructions say. Otherwise, real happy with the stuff. The Flak-Jacket is reassuringly tough, so it should work well for many years. For my uses, it eliminated the need for some elbows, which reduce the effective pipe length, for specific nipple lengths, and for unions, which can leak.

No dope or tape of any kind is needed, nor should it EVER be used on the CSST itself. Only on the NPT fittings should you use dope, tape, or whatever you usually use. For me, Pro-Dope works like a charm all by itself. (I don't get anything from anyone for mentioning it by name, and I have used it for years on gas pipe).
