I love the color and design. I would suggest rounding the edges of the desk overhang which would give it a more elegant and table top appearance. Great work!

The before and after looks beautiful. I think the towel should be a solid color and layer it with a hand towel and washcloth. Overall I give it a 10 New subscriber. I just moved in a new construction house so this is a perfect inspiration

I’m wondering what it might look like if you layered the towel with other towels in your color scheme so it’s not just navy on navy. It always seems yucky tasks take half the time we think it will and the fun stuff we dive into take twice as long. Girl, you are inspiring! I bought that same shelf set in natural wood but have been putting off installing. You’re giving me the confidence to just go for it.
@melanatedmakerdiy17103 ай бұрын
Will definitely try layering! Thanks! And yes, I'm so bad at estimating how long things take, but always find the motivation to keep going once I start. Get that shelf up girl, I believe you!

Do your routing before assembly. Make test cuts to make sure your bits are set to proper height or depth. Keep playing with it. Practice makes perfect. Nobody was born doing this everybody had to learn. You will too just don't give up.

Your lack of critical thinking skill means you don't even deserve a wage. Stow the attitude and get some education. Your actions speak so loudly we don't hear an excuse you're making Darlin'.
@xavariusquest46033 ай бұрын
You could perform tasks like this prior to assembly....you know....think about the job before you start. If you are new to woodworking, then a list of specific steps you must take is REQUIRED to avoid problems like this. Next, use the right tools. If you are cutting off strips that will splinter you've either used the wrong bit and or are digging into the wood. Routers required progressive cutting by dropping the bit. WOW...this is pretty bad.
@GT-433 ай бұрын
You could always try using the proper router bits.

I love to DIY and I want to do so much with my old home but I’m AFRAID/TERRIFIED of using power tools to cut things. I have my oscillating tool which I don’t mind using but I’ve been eyeing mitre saws and table saws to add to my power tools. How did you get “comfortable” using yours?
@melanatedmakerdiy17106 ай бұрын
Girl, I know exactly how you feel! I started with some simple tools like a jigsaw and a circular saw and I watched a lot of KZbin videos to make sure I was being safe. I also made sure to buy quality tools. I love a deal, but some of the super cheap tools can be so dangerous, it's not worth it. Black and Decker is a good quality brand for starter tools that won't break the bank.

Sorry I do iron BUT I don't have young children at home any more! I really enjoy watching you. I must admit to you that I am 75 and was a teacher for 40 years. I was raised at the time when girls could be nurses, teachers or secretaries. My father was a master hobby woodworker. I am so sad I didn't learn from him. Woodworking wasn't for girls.
@melanatedmakerdiy17106 ай бұрын
I so relate to this! My dad was super handy growing up and I was always so interested but it "wasn't appropriate" for a girl to do that kind of work. It's so rewarding as a woman now to try all the things that were deemed as "inappropriate."
