One of the pilots said he thought it would be next week. If they leave Monday like they did last time they will get there early Wednesday but I honestly haven't any more info than that. I know they can't travel without daylight and this time they stopped at Lameroo and it was posted. Then they were posted at Tailem Bend and Callington giving me chance to get them. I won't be able to get them next week I'm afraid.

All of the Harris type carriages were due to be shunted to the acid pits in Clayton. However, due to the foresight of a then Victorian Railways engineer (name withheld due to privacy reasons) they were rescued and refurbished and used on the VLine Regional network...and still are.

Nice work. Watched them go through my home town being hauled to Bendigo. Glad to see it wasn't their last run. In Vic we refer to them as H cars and a set funnily enough as a H set.
@AM22trainsandthings7 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the information! So are the 3 called a 'H' set? How many make a set? Do you call them H passenger cars?
@radicallyrethinkingrailwaysina6 сағат бұрын
@@AM22trainsandthings Yes 3 would make a typical set. As Harris trains, they were usually 7 cars until some were converted into "Grey Ghosts" in 1982 where they received aircon and power doors, at which point they only worked as 4 cars. Other cars were converted to H sets for loco haulage and these tended to be 3 or 6, except a couple were made into rail motor trailers as single cars, or sometimes two cars hauled by a rail car or locomotive (called MTH cars) and some of the Grey Ghosts were also then converted into H sets. Complicated.
@ianrx1226 сағат бұрын
@@AM22trainsandthings this may take a bit. When introduced they were 3 car sets coded SH for short cars and LH for the longer cars. That became FSH when they added an extra car then then V as in the Roman numeral for five and finally S for six cars when they permanently coupled two three cars together which is what Steamranger got. Hopefully this isn't to confusing.
