I'm in Swindon. Traded my sports bike in for a R1200GS Adventure. Would like to start with longer journeys and moto camping. I am still new to all this, hoping to gain more experience and confidence as I go. Might see you guys on the road at some point. Good Video btw. I will subscribe.

@@StanPinnock Hi, yes I have joined the group on FB few months ago. Seen a few posts on there, but as I don't know anyone it makes it harder for me to approach people. Might have a look and see when there is a general meet up and just come over and meet some people.

Thank you for your comments and for watching the video. Good luck with the Chemo, I think most of us have someone close to us who have been affected by cancer. I hope your journey is a healthy one, stay positive and keep on riding! Good luck.

I want to do a bit more this year, preferably when it's a bit dryer so my tyres won't get clogged up.
@Tobba10210 ай бұрын
I think if these issues stress you that bad, you should make sure you you have the best dealer support and best warranty. It doesn't matter if you keep the bike you are on or get a completely different one. They are all going to have small issues. I got rid of my GS because of issues and massive parts lead times. The PA had less issues and better support, but I'm in the USA.
@StanPinnock10 ай бұрын
I've had really good support from my dealer, they have been great and understand about my health. I'm hoping to have a few months of trouble free riding and get a 24/74 later in the year.
@donnellans10 ай бұрын
If you’re looking at Triumph and BMW, both good bikes, but you will likely have issues. I have well over 15,000 miles on my Pan America and I’ve had zero issues. Also, Jiffy stand is not an American thing, it’s a Harley Davidson thing. It’s a patent for the style of side stand they use. If you notice, when you extend your side stand, it locks into place under the weight of the bike so it doesn’t roll forward off the side stand. That’s the “jiffy” stand.
@StanPinnock10 ай бұрын
Every days a school day 😁 Doesn't explain why to the Breakouts are always falling off the jiffy stand though lol

I rode my Domi 99 with an ex RAC Watsonian sidecar from Co Durham to the 1967 Dragon Rally in snow and rain, it was a miserable experience. There were many more participants back then, with bikers from all over Europe. The locals were not welcoming at all. Good footage but spoiled by the music.

I came across a D R news letter from the 60's. It has the D R song in it amongst other things. I always wondered what it was all about. It was with my fathers belongings.

If it hasn’t got a beak & pig ugly it’s not a proper adventure bike . My Suzuki has a beak & if my bike has a beak it’s still in fashion & anyone who hasn’t got a big yellow beak is a square & not cool or in fashion . 👍

There is a road rather like this in the Peak District but it's up a mountain, doesn't really go anywhere, so they just closed it and turned it into a quite interesting walking area with good views.

I think I know the one you mean, at the top of Winnats Pass below Mam Tor?
@derekp2674 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing those experiences. Here in the UK, I used to be an early adopter of Buell motorcycles and often felt that I was helping to beta-test the Buell product range. Once sorted, my 1997 M2 Cyclone gave great service but when my nearly new XB9R started to play up, I bugged out and traded it for a BMW. I had a great relationship with my H-D/Buell dealer and with the UK importer. But really, no amount of loan bikes and warranty spares can really compensate for having a duff bike. All of my three Harleys (1990 XL883, 1987 FXRS-SP and 1990 FXRT) had their issues but once sorted were more dependable than my Buells. Back then H-D was trying to use the Buell brand to increase its customer base, but the resulting bikes were over ambitious as design projects and under delivered in terms of development testing and ruggedness. I wonder if that history is to be repeated with the new Pans and Sportsters?

Shows everyone that the uk talk the talk about the environment, but it's all about money. Co2 isn't the issue at all, but removing so many trees is.

I think the people who live round the area, know what happened, there was a development on the hillside above the road and all the trees and bushes were removed from the ground, following heavy rain the hillside just slipped down as there was nothing holding it together. Its going to cost Wiltshire council their whole road repair budget to reinstate that road.
@StanPinnock Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, I hadn't heard that.
@jonb3311 Жыл бұрын
One mile blocked, which you can bypass by going through Bradenstoke. Is that such a problem? www.wiltshire.gov.uk/highways-B4069-Lyneham-Banks
@lookoutleo Жыл бұрын
Maybe that road is over old mine workings
@ericchapman399 Жыл бұрын
@lookoutleo Mining is more likely than the removal of trees above it. The underlying rock on an incline with more porous waterlogged overbearing can cause a land slip of this size. Look at inset photo at 6:00 min for the size and scale of the slippage.
@paulharrison8155 Жыл бұрын
So it's taken Wiltshire County Council almost two years to do nothing. If this was Japan they'd have had that repaired in two weeks 👎

I pre-ordered when they were first announced, then cancelled when it was delayed into the UK. Bought a new 1290S instead (18K trouble-free miles so far). I always wondered if I'd have been happier with the PanAm- thanks for clearing that thought up ;-) Anyhoo, fair play to LND for not making a drama out of a crisis.
