During most of these iMac SSD and/or CPU upgrades, it not mentioned about replacing the clock battery while access is available during the motherboard removal. It's only a $5 or less cost for a CR2032 battery and they are normally only a 5 year shelf life on your motherboard, so replace it while you have access to it!

pretty nice you're in a spot where they dont test emissions. Does your CEL stay on?
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography 10 ай бұрын
Yeah - having no emissions testing is awesome👍 The CEL will completely depend on what ECU tune that you are running in your vehicle. If you have the stock, it will be an immediate check engine light.

Thanks. What about the 120gb M2 SSD part of the fusion drive? Do you create the fusion drive again or simply use only the new SATA SSD? That M2 driver is much faster, but 120gb is not enough for the system.

You will simply use the SSD - (No Fusion Drive will show up).

i have a 2012. Can i get away with not putting a temp sensor on it. And I want to start from scratch. Do i just get a Mojave drive that they sell to install the software
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography Жыл бұрын
The temp sensor was attached to the wiring harness from iFixit - I had to mount it. My OS is Catalina. I was able to restore my desktop from time machine
@barnysgaming
@barnysgaming Жыл бұрын
Most of the time you don't need the wiring harness that gives you a temp sensor. Out of the 50 or so iMacs I've put SSD's in its only been the early 21 inch (2012/2013) models that have had issues with missing the sensor. Also the ifixit kits are a little overpriced as you can buy everything you need for less than $150 so long as you have the small torx bits. Most adhesive kits come with the pizza cutter, there are other SSD adapter mounts you can buy and as I said you don't really need the harness. Other than that good video, just be extra careful with the screens on the 2016 to 2019 models as there very expensive to replace.

Great video. Question, in the other videos I've seen for this job there was always a need to either lift the engine, lower sway bar and steering module or a combination of both. With the low profile torx bit you used is there still a need to lift engine?
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography Жыл бұрын
If you have the low profile T30 Torx, you should be able to remove/install the new oil pan without having to lift the whole engine. Again, be very careful with the new bead of oil pan sealant. If it's damaged on the install, you will immediately have a leak and will need to re-apply another layer (full oil pan uninstall to get access).

Hello, how difficult was it to access the bolts at the back to remove the oil pan? Also, is it a good idea to use WD 40 to let the bolts soak in before opening?
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography 2 жыл бұрын
You will need some variation of a low profile T30 wrench to access the back bolts (see video). I would recommend PB Blaster for all of the T30 bolts.

Helo,Amazing video can you tell me the amount of the old oil that you found in the bottom of the pan when you removed it i mean the residual amount Do you have a method to drain 100% of oil and how to avoid mixing the old and the new lubricant when flushing Thank you 😊
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Brahim. There was very little residual oil left in the bottom of the pan. When I did the oil change, I left the vehicle to drain for over 4 hours with the old oil filter also out. In my opinion, it will be impossible to get 100% of the oil out of the pan with just a normal oil change. - Hope this helps

Hey man love the sound. Did you do anything else with the exhaust/(resonator or muffler delete)?
@alexandercb_photography
@alexandercb_photography 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Konrad. Both the first resonator and muffler have been modified. The first resonator was replaced with a 3" straight pipe. The muffler was also replaced with a 3" straight pipe connected to aftermarket exhaust tips.
