Greetings! And thank you for your reaction to NMIXX! :) Well ok, since you asked... I'll let you know where the phrase "Hey you bastards, I'm still here" is from! But for that we have to go back 50 years (yeah, that's the reason no one knows where it's from anymore!). That line is the very last line of a then-world famous movie titled "Papillon". That movie was, after all, directed by the guy that did "Patton", and starred Steve McQueen (a famous action/adventure star of the time) and Dustin Hoffman (that one you might know, as he had several iconic movie roles in the 70s and 80s). That "Papillon" movie was an adaptation of a novel of the same name by a French guy named Henri Charrières (oh, "Papillon" is the french word for "Butterfly", in english. It was the main character's surname). It is a story told from the author's perspective about a decade-long prisonbreak plan, the main character being in a Venezuelan prison for a long time. When he successfully escapes, at the end of the movie, after jumping off a cliff and drifting away on a ramshackle raft, he throws this line to the wind in success and defiance! "Hey you bastards, I'm still here!". Again, at the time, it was a great adventure movie (or so I've read online; I wasn't alive then :) ). So it is here that NMIXX had a theme of a prisonbreak, and someone went with it and found out about this then-iconic line. Just to be sure of the connection between this concept and "Papillon", they also pretty much told it to us in one of their story trailers released a few weeks ago, the "MIXXTERY JOURNAL", where they detailed NMIXX's scheduled activities before their album release:kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYvFoKxmqL2lrtU. In it, we see a prison cell, the "Hey you bastards" line and then a butterfly made from barbed-wire (referencing "Papillon"). That all being said, I doubt anyone knows any of the things I just told you, even now. But now you know! Strange where kpop takes their influences, sometimes :) Oh, and I Loved "DASH"! :) Have a great day!!

Kyujin and Haewon’s era methinks

Greetings! And thank you for your reaction to NMIXX!! I've been watching your NMIXX videos since the "Expérgo" album release and I'm glad to see you back again for this new mini-album with these two "Highlight Medley" reactions! As for its title, you got it right; it's "Fe3O4" since it's a chemical formula (like "CO2" for carbon monoxide, you know?). In this particular case, 3 Iron and 4 Oxygen makes the Iron Oxide molecule (also known as "magnetite"). Which probably doesn't say much, but when this black mineral is reduced to powder and mixed with a thinner liquid, it makes a very black liquid that, when exposed to a strong magnetic field, produces spikes that comes out of the liquid. Pretty fascinating! As a side note on that, if you'll permit me, I would like to mention that NMIXX had a few imagery related to magnetism when they debuted. Where you already a fan at that time? :) Even before the "O.O" music video, they did a "Debut Trailer" and in that one we not only see exemple of magnetic fields being controlled by the girls (like the big steel balls-and-chains being moved and the cellphones flying around Kyujin) but also we actually saw Iron Oxide in action, doing spikes and cool stuff! Another element from this "Debut Trailer" that is coming back for the "Fe3O4: Break" album is the large flock of birds flying overhead; we saw some both in the "Fe3O4: Declaration" video and the "Fe3O4: Trailer" last week. All in all, I certainly appreciate the clear continuity from their debut (if anyone remembered their "Debut Trailer", that is! :) ) And to answer your question at the end, about which could be my favorite after hearing these Highlight Medleys... hmmm, well I already love "Run for Roses" from when we first heard it a few months ago, and "Soñar" just made me so hyped for their album's sound. We got an "XOXO" live performance during their "MIXX University" fan concert and I have to say that one really hooked me then! I think it's Lily's singing voice, in that one, that impresses me most. Enough to make it my most anticipated song? That's tough... "Passionfruit" was very fun and interesting in both medleys. "Boom", though, is the one I'm most intrigued since it's the one that didn't do much for me in either videos... I'm sure I'll grow to love it but it's a rough start for me so far. "Break The Wall" sounds like a good song to end the album on, kinda like "Home" did last time. But really, all the attention will be on "Dash" since it's the title track and it will have a music video so after all that, I think I'm more looking forward to "Dash"! Have a great day!! And I had to go back to your older videos to see if it's always been there, and it seems it always was! Well, it took a week, but KZbin finally reocmmended me your video :) And actually, (besides the subject of it being an NMIXX reaction), it's its length that made me curious about watching it. Now I know it's because you reacted to "Roller Coaster" as well, so it made it doubl-y entertaining! I agree with your first thoughts about "Party O'Clock"; I think they made a great summer song while still fitting in their own sound. And it's a fun music video! Also, as far as I know, everything was filmed on-location; there were no studio shots. So when they're in a forest, at the end, they were really in a forest :) Ah and lastly, if you didn't come accross this information already, what we're seeing at the very end is actually a sailing ship with a lion figurehead... the same ship as we can see in the first 15 seconds of the "O.O" music video (assuming you already watched "O.O"). What does it mean? Who knows! :) If you love watching choreography videos, I would recommend the "KillPo" one (on the "1theK Originals" KZbin channel); it manages to show off cool moves that goes unnoticed (due to the camera angle) in other choreography videos. Alternatively, if you like a more classic video, their "Stage Pratice" for "Party O'Clock" include live vocals so it's always a safe bet to recommend it :) As for "Roller Coaster", Lily's high note is a highlight for me. How does she does it every time?? :) Although I do have to mention Kyujin's own sustained notes, proving yet again that she an "ace" that can do everything. There's also a few easter eggs in the music video; the one that is easiest to spot might be when they are running in front of the big baseball score board... there's numbers lighted up, seemingly for the scores for each innings but the first line is actually "20220222", for their debut date (February 22 2022) and the second line of scores is "20230703", the release date of the "Roller Coaster" music video (July 3rd 2023). As for stage recommendations, the "It's Live" performance for "Roller Coaster" is amazing; we can see them having fun a lot :) Anyway, have a great day!

The ending: "Did it happen or not" is sort of the point. The whole thing is Y2K themed. One of the movie ending tropes from that time was "It was all just a dream (or was it?)". There were many campy movies and one-off TV episodes that used this trope.

Allergy is the one of B side track in 'I FEEL' Album. Soyeon's experience in the Produce101 and Unpretty Rapstar may be the material or story of her in this song. But I think that Soyeon decided to write this song based on this exprerince probably because of case in the Teenage girls survival show which she was one of the mentors. If you're interested in (G)I-DLE's past tracks that have messages, I'd say LION and OH MY GOD were the start of those. Frankly speaking, though, since day one (G)I-DLE has been self-produced so all their tracks have a more personal feel to them, even if it's about topics you'd normally have like losing love, enjoying summer...ect. But I think with LION, it was a safe step into writing something more meaningful/personal (as it's about empowerment). Then OH MY GOD dropped and it was gloves off. The song is written to be interrupted in several ways... but it's about same sex love. People saying otherwise are entitled to their own opinion, and Soyeon herself wanted everyone to enjoy the song in their own way, but she wouldn't have been so coy about the lyrics if it wasn't about same sex temptations. Plus, knowing what we do now after TOMBOY's message I think we all know that Soyeon isn't scared to talk about sensitive issues (in Korea). So yeah, I'd say out of the past discography those two were the start of messages songs (that were title tracks).

Soyeon, the rapper, i feel wrote the song based on her experience during her pdp 101 days where she was pressured to do surgery since knetz were bullying her about her appearance. She was 17 back then. Imagine what she must have felt like back then being told you're not good enough because you're not pretty enough.
