Remember too that the heat is increasing every year. There is no “normal” any more. So in some years there will be parts of Italy that will be dead zones because of heat at least in summer.

I live in Spain and I notice that sometimes, I'm A LOT more dramatic when I speak Spanish. It's pretty normal here in the South. When I lived in Japan, my voice went up quite high especially when I spoke Japanese on the phone. Actually it went up even in person!😊

I have learned that the biggest thing you have to know about Italy is the thieves. Arrived this morning, wallet was stolen the first time I got on the bus. Within 15 minutes they had charged 1500 Euros. Bunch of feckin thieves.

Thanks for sharing but you said one has to rent flat far from church so he/ she won't hear 🙃🤔. hello ! Bells are rung as a signal to the people that it is time to make their way to the church for worship or it is a wake up call to remember God. It is a blessing to rent a flat nearby church.

I think it's a bit of an exaggeration... the things you described are exceptions not the rule... 90% of Italian drivers follow the rules of the road like everyone else. Actually the craziest drivers I've met in my life were in Germany... the autobahn is a rodeo. ^_^

I'm Italian, and I can tell you that at least 60/70% of people do at least one of these things, then the people who do them all together are a little less, but they are there. However, the German motorway works well, if you want to go slowly stay in the right lane, if you want to overtake those who are going slowly go in the middle lane while if you go very fast and want to overtake those in the middle lane you can go left and then go to the right to leave the lane free

@@jomy3766 I don't know where you live in Italy, but where I come from people aren't that wild on the road. And regarding Germany, the highway is one of the few places where I was afraid. There are vehicles that travel at 100km/h and others at 300km/h, you can never get distracted. In particular, several times I have seen cars entering the motorway at full speed in an unsafe manner...

American with an Italian mother. When in Italy I stand differently--more "contraposto," and not as straight. I use my hands more, not with specific hand gestures, just more hand-motion. My Italian relatives don't really use a lot of the more specific hand gestures. Well, "boh" is accompanied by a shrug of the shoulders. In the U.S. one Italianism that me and my brothers have never lost is that we point to things with our noses rather than our fingers. We also use the "Ma dai!" in an English formulation--"Come on! Seriously." It's kind of aggressive in the U.S., but I consider it a conversational necessity.

What I've noticed is that Americans make a lot of hand gestures when speaking, but unlike Italians -- who can use their hands to emphasize the meaning of words -- Americans (aside from this excessive use of quotations marks) just wave their hands in the air.
