Just FYI… there are two central jack points in the service manual. You need a low profile long jack like you are using to get to them.

Great video really. I finally have a good vision of this operation. Wasn't so clear on other videos I watched. And thanks for comparing with the 986 since it's the car that I have.

I dont understand ehat you mean about the bottom bolt to remove ... As i said in another comment i took all 3 silver control arms and the a arm off resting on a jack for the poor brake line and axles sake (even tho the axle popped out temporarily midway through) but now i can't get all the control arms comnected again. What were you saying about the bottom bolt to undo or not undo i think takking about the a arm underneath? This could be the step I'm missing. Thanks for the awesome video either eay.

If I am understanding correctly, I think you are referring to re-inserting the rear shocks into the mounts? For the chapter at 33:51? For reconnecting the control arms, one can jack underneath the shock, once it's inserted, to compress the whole thing and maneuver the control arm back in. Be super careful and make sure the jack doesn't slip off. About the bottom bolt, I removed the lower "arm" on one of the sides at the rear and accidentally removed the bolt that aligns it to do so. It was a pain to get back in and in hindsight, removing the alignment bolt just added to the headache. You'll have to get an alignment after, anyway. Hope this helps. (stay safe 🫡 and thanks for taking the time to comment)

@RuslanVideoFilms Yeah, I removed all of them I'm sure I'll have to get an alignment. I jacked underneath with the bolt in the bottom, but actually lifted the car with 2 control arms connected and the disconnected one was too far out of whack to get it to fit. Going to try to remove the specific ones you pointed out and reconnect the others to see if I can get it all back together. What a pain in the ass, it seems to be only this unity kit that I also got (awesome coincidence you had the same one). You're a real one for the reply, cheers for euro trucks! 😂😂

Agreed I’ve connected straight to the battery negative I might try to the body though I can’t see it making any difference as the battery negative is only 6” cable to the body. I’ve also made sure the rca and the live aren’t together anywhere. Have you used the ground loop filters before? Cheers

Until you commented, I had not, so thanks for taking the time to share. I’m sorry to hear about your Porsche. This is wild, even though I love the company, I’m glad there are some consequences to poor design decisions, God knows they can afford to pay the settlements and repairs I’m surprised this doesn’t include earlier cayennes because they have similar badly designed drains www.claimdepot.com/settlements/porsche-sunroof-drain-defect-settlement

So, your videos of getting to service mode and removing the console to get to this point are amazing. The cable replacement video is great too. After all this work, I looked under the car and discovered that the cables were not broken after all! The ball joint on the one on the left had simply come off! I assumed when the shift lever was flopping around that the cables had broken. So, now I have an extra set of cables and a lot of needless work to put everything back together. Let that be a warning to others that suddenly find themselves in this situation. Anyway, thanks for the great videos!

Hey, thanks so mjuch for the video on removing the throttle body. I was wondering about the intake hose on the tube behind the throttle body hose. What is its function and are there any hidden bolts holding that tube, other that the four clamps holding the rubber hoses? I see a vacuum line is attached underneath with what appears to be a valve assembly. Thanks
@RuslanVideoFilms
@RuslanVideoFilms 10 күн бұрын
If we're talking about the same part, with the vacuum line attached, then that's the intake flap. No hidden bolts. "The Boxster inherits its twin-resonance air induction system from the 911 Carrera. The system acts as a “resonance supercharger,” allowing the engine to draw from higher velocity airflow at certain engine speeds. A crossover pipe connects the individual air collector/resonance chambers for each cylinder bank. A flap in the pipe remains closed from idle to about 3,100 rpm. When it opens, each cylinder bank can draw from airflow “excited” by the resonance created by alternating induction between all six cylinders. In essence, “dual resonance” creates two induction paths for each cylinder. Below 3,000 rpm, the cylinders draw air from a “short” path. From 3,000 rpm to about 5,100 rpm - when the resonance flap opens - the cylinders draw from a long intake path, which boosts torque. Above 5,100 rpm, the flap again closes to allow the cylinders to draw intake air from a shorter intake path to boost horsepower at higher engine speeds." 986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/57096-whats-function-valve.html

Just did a full trunk replacement. You are correct about the the spoiler base. Think its 4 bolts and the two outer round clip things just pry off. My orig wing was better than the donor. Also both of my 3rd brake light left side hold down tab where broken. Glue fixed.

You’re welcome and thanks for taking the time to comment. I can say with 100% certainty that 19” was enough. Any lower is cutting it too close for comfort and might risk not fitting. With 19” of lift it was also barely enough clearance to fit and work under there by the way because you’re in a bent-sitting position.

The “brass” is actually a thin layer of gold plating that is applied via electrolysis. The red and black bars are painted then filled with an epoxy like resin. A thorough cleaning, then an application of a clear coat would permanently fill in the tiny imperfections in the epoxy, giving you the wet look. Automotive grade 2K clear would be best. A wipe on clear like what’s available in some headlight restoration kits should also work.
