I am picking up my 696 in satin black on the 29th this month and I'm watching a few videos to keep me sane during the wait lmao I found your channel and the content is great! About this video, well everyone has to start somewhere and I think it's better than what I could do for the first time :D I enjoyed watching the ride just as much as I enjoyed your other videos. @ hey man, yeah i had the bike since june but unfortunately im selling it again. The bike itself is perfect and it is a joy to ride, but since i switched jobs i need something more comfortable for everyday riding. My hand and lower back simply hurt too much after 45min through the city 🤣 BUT I can still 110% recommend this as a beginner bike, especially if restricted to 23.5kw, it's still a fucking blast to ride. Ahh I know I will regret it some day but I can't keep killing my back :(

A few things to note, that Monster is making a little more power from a similar displacement, but it's *air cooled*. Water cooled Monsters make even more power per displacement. On reliability, that's what you get for believing the rumor mill. I have 3 Ducatis, one of them a '06 Monster S2R800 (my first ever bike), and I've never hesitated to ride it everyday, no matter the distance. It's incredibly reliable and easy to work on, especially being air cooled. Valves are easy to get to and adjust, clutch is a quick job, timing belts are *super* simple, single sided swingarm makes anything with the rear wheel really easy. If you like to work on your own bike and want something friendly and easy to ride with a good sound, an air cooled Monster is an excellent choice.

Does the bike ever sound weird to you around 5-6k RPM? I have a monster 696 and it makes a high pitch tinny sound around that RPM. Leovince GP-Corsa slip ons, no baffle

Hey Matthew and welcome to the channel! Personally I dont think the bike sounds weird at 5-6k RPMs. I’ve noticed that as the RPMS go up in speed that the pitch goes from a low sound to a high sound. As thats the sound ive always heard when accelerating since ive had it, i never questioned it - so to me the bike sounds like it’s functioning correctly. Do you have a clip i could listen to maybe to better understand what youre hearing?

Yeah I have have a monster and idk if it's me but its feels slow once I get to like 80 it doesn't pull as hard but I bought it because the low end is so nice but higher up is not the best after 100 but it's still fun

both good bikes and very close for speed and power, Ducati has a more race position to get out of wind also cost a lot more that the Yamaha, I've rode the 696 many times it always puts a smile on my face but I will take the mt 07 over the 696 any day

Hey PortuXrideR and welcome to the channel!! I love it (yea totally biased) LOL its my first bike, I think its so much fun to ride and it honestly makes me feel special in a way that other bikes don’t. In terms of maintenance its comparable to other manufactures but yes its definitely gonna cost a little bit more - I think its worth it though. The bike needs major services done every 7500 miles, on average itll cost 1600 dollars give or take 100 dollars. It takes two days to get done. So contingent on how frequently you ride per season you might be going every other year or once every 3-4 years. What really gets me is tires. The tires that I use last less 5000 miles and then usually winter makes me change them early (just because of the deformation from sitting in one position so long). So I get tires done every other year. The total cost of tires and labor for me is 500 dollars give or take 50 dollars which is similar to what you paid for some thing else. I’d say don’t worry so much about the cost because when you see your bike and youre riding it - it never comes to mind. Its more like, “yea this is great - I love this”

That’s awesome!! Youre definitely gonna get the license! Those are all great choices! Yea I remember that feeling too haha I remember the when I had to pay for my first major service - it definitely hurt but I never regretted it. As I really wanted my bike and love it so much - I just accepted that this is what it costs. Heres a little secret, get a bike you love, then youll never worry about the money

Turkey - that’s so cool! I’m in the USA. Congratulations on the bike!! I’m really happy for you!! Yea my 696 use to have that problem. I just took it to the dealership and let them handle it. They did an oil change and tightened the filter as much as they could and that stopped it. Haven’t had that problem in years. Regardless though, I’m pretty sure that’s one of the common problems that the 696 has
