These talk goes to show that interdisciplinary approach to research especially gender research is valuable. Lets not talk interdisciplinary in research but lets put it in practice. Thanks to the Bioversity gender team.

Interesting video: thanks for sharing this experience in PNG. My question is: besides introducing new seed varieties, what other CC adaptation measures are you promoting among farmers, local organizations and local government?

Thanks Alejandro! We are looking at diversity at all scales. From how to use crop and tree diversity to deal with frost, drought, salinization on the farm but also at the landscape scale. For example, we look at the provision of ecosystem services and the farming practices that can improve their delivery. We also work at the policy level, working with governments on adaptation and diversification strategies. Have a look at our website for news on climate change: www.bioversityinternational.org/about-us/news/category-news/climate-change/ And some of our research pages: www.bioversityinternational.org/research-portfolio/adaptation-to-climate-change/ www.bioversityinternational.org/research-portfolio/agricultural-ecosystems/frost-water-salt/

Wow really interesting...I was glued to how people in other parts of the world are also being affected by climate change and how they are changing with it or trying anyway. [email protected]

Thank you ILRI for taking time to send your comment. To carry out our research we depend on the exchange knowledge with smallholder farmers from all over the world and certainly working with the Kayanika Women’s group in Kitui, this was the case. We conducted a series of interviews around the Kitui project in the farmers’ voices - for which this is the first.

I'm sure that Bioversity's Leafy Green Vegetable project has benefited many people, including the women farmer's of Kenya's dry and rainfed Kitui District. But it chafes badly to hear--repeatedly---of scientists educating these expert farmers from Kitui on the value of planting traditional crops. Surely Bioversity learned as much from the women as they taught?
