Got to see the legendary Danny Z warehouse. 😎🤙🌺

What was shown in this video was literally 1/4 of ONE of the several warehouses he had. He walked me around four, and there were still more but he didn’t wanna walk around anymore haha

while you had it apart you should have done the 1 piece axle boots.....they work much better.

I actually had just watched your install video on those. I thought about it afterwards. Hopefully I won’t need to take apart the transmission again anytime soon. Otherwise, I’m taking a screenshot of this response lol

It’s weird how we think a tool that does the job right is expensive but will spend more on wheels😂 glad you finally decided to stop being cheap where it matters. 😂 trust me I did the same thing way back in the day. For the same reason, a stripped drum.

Why does it need a breather? I snapped my brather hose tail on the Add was thinking about plugging it? Is there oil in there? Or electronics? Why isnt it a sealed unit
@jeremydoc22 күн бұрын
When temps go up/down, pressure inside tends to increase/decrease. Like the engine case, there is a PCV (pressure control valve) to keep things from exploding when over-pressurized. Front and rear differentials work the same way in that it tends to become over-pressurized when temps fluctuate. They need breathers to allow for this. I would advise against plugging it as that could cause more problems down the line with premature ware. There isn’t oil inside the ADD, but there is grease. If water gets in, it’ll disrupt and displace the grease and cause the electric contacts to become corroded which is a very common issue with ADD’s no longer working and will not engage/disengage into/out of 4WD.

After all my experience with lowered cars. I would raise it up a little. the axles will be above the trans. and this causes wear to the wheel bearings. Just one problem after another.

Look under the dash. The dark side on the right of the glove looks like 65 Sea Sand. Good start to do what you want. Nobody should cry to much that you messed up a nice car? Its gutted and ready for you to build the dream brother! Just make sure the rear hubs are tight. 😘😂 All notchbacks to 72/73 have 3 bolt hinges. Some 66 Early Canadian Fasty/Squares had 3 bolt door hinges. Notchbacks also kept the early type rocker sills as well that is actually a part of why they have 3 bolt doors all the way till the end.
@jeremydocКүн бұрын
Thanks for that info! It’s still a struggle trying to solidify information regarding door hinges. Especially notchbacks! And 100% going to be using my newly acquired torque multiplier EVERYTIME I remove/instal axle nuts.

Wow! I am so happy for you. This is a great find! I would leave the same color and put some Fuchs. Can't want on following up on the progress. I love the interior and the fact that you have almost everything. Was getting stressed thinking of where to find everything and then you have all those parts in the back! hahaha Just amazing.

Some Fuches would be great! However, the going rate is a bit beyond my budget. Plus, still not sure what bolt pattern I’ll be doing longer term. But def keeping my options open!

come on back with a notchback.... but dooode, that soundproofing is MADNESS.... he obviously was lost as he didnt do inside the doors where normal people make sure to do...waste really... take a magnet to the body work im sure theres massive bondo after seeing whats chipped off... use the magnet so you can take a mental note of where to watch for failure of bondo
@jeremydocКүн бұрын
Yep, there’s def a lot of bondo haha. Thanks for the tip
@67VWForever28 күн бұрын
Yeah well since you bought it and it's already stripped I would start doing the body work since you know where all the damage is at otherwise it's just gonna get worse and eventually it will be more worse than your square back so just go have it repainted after you do all the body work then you'll have a nice pristine notch back

Definetly worth the trade of your first born child. My notch has a lot of the same weird defects too. Mine had the front shocks hanging from the top mount when I got it, also had the bumpstop arms cut off. That defect in the paint is bubbling from where body filler held some moisture. I do want to say the passenger door looked like it had a lower doorskin put on it, similar to the weld patch showed on the drivers quarter. That front badge looks cool! Looks like Type 1 smoothies up front, then rears look like 66/67 beetle slotted wheels. I think Im buying stock in Kilmat incase big bro decides to restore more cars. 😂

Bummer. Had passenger front wheel go flying off doung 50 on a gradual turn after nice night out at Dinner in Hawaii. My 66 was a fast little car and normally hit that turn about 80. Luckily not that night. Told mama to hang on and we skirted a chain link fence and came to rest 2 inches from a telephone pole. I bought a drill press and bits to stud the drums like I had on previous vdubs. Was happy it was just that but scared living shit out of us. Glad ur ok. Metal can always be reformed, it'll be alright!

Question. For as much work as you have done yourself, why would you get your insurance company involved?

I'm a Beetle/Camper person, but I never thought I'd want a '69 Square. It's not perfect looking, but has a 2110cc engine & semi-restored by an electrician. It has a rare dealer color, but looks similar to patina. The car is solid, reliable, in dry CA, everything works & is not a project. Tough call.

And yes Use a very Long at least a 3/4 " 3' feet breaker bar to tighten your nuts they need to be as tight as possible as tight as you can get them Never ever use an impact you can never get them tight enough.

Jeremy - I enjoyed your video. I live in Cayucos and enjoyed seeing you and your rally mates all around town. I wondered why your car was parked up at Borradori’s for so long. I hope your repairs go well and that you can afford to hang with it. The Type 3’s are beautiful. It’s important to keep them alive. All of us classic car owners are just caretakers for the next generation as our cars go on from one generation to the next. Hope to see you down the road.
