Unfortunately some of us have the 224 but 75% or more of the video was on the 480L. Someone below said not to much difference in sound but the 480 appear to have more presets. This may appear true to them because the 224 was harldy demostrated compared to the 480L. .

Thank you ! I looked a week how to create a scene from zero. Nothing on internet, manual is useless. You showed me how to change an existing scene. There is still hope. I will try to.learn to make a new scene. I made the rythm part but when i try to put anything on part 1 there is no way to choose instruments. Then some strings, pads come out of nowhere. There must be 5 butt8that must be pressed to be able to assign 1 instrument to part 1 of a scene that im3working on. Roland is crazy

The idiotic thing about the layout of this synth is that the Part/Osc On (buttons 9-13) are effectively useless. What they SHOULD do it turn on or off each partial for each of the 5 Parts, which you select with buttons 4-8. But when you change the current Part, it doesn’t jump to the on/off settings you’d set there previously. Great sounding instrument ruined by terrible user experience design. I’ve had mine for a year and I am still totally confounded by the asinine interface.

the 480 is more balanced, the 224 is more messy but more character. I prefer the 480

Great video. I've just got the 224 on demo for 14 days as it's been price reduced to £89 from £324 in the UK. I think I'm going to buy it. I owned a PCM80 in the nineties and love the Lexicon sound.

Roland manuals: have you also checked the Reference Manual and the Parameter Guide ? Those usually have the better stuff than the User Guide.

Very comprehensible and good video. I think this layering tool existing since a longtime ago. On a 2006 Juno G it is much easier, with bigger screeen. (I mean the layering)

It's great. I remember in the 80's when we used to layer 3-4 synths together to create those massive keyboard piano/rhodes sounds. 30+ years later those sounds come back again in a single synth layered up! I like the sound of this Juno X. Seems useful in production.

Very helpful! There are very few resources on this and the manual is really quite useless. I’ve always found that Roland synths using complex menus are not that easy to follow. Also using the Juno X in a DAW in not a lot of fun !

There is a way to make changes to just a single Tone, or make changes to the Scene as a whole. I’m still waiting for my Juno X to arrive (I have my fist synth still, a Juno-6). In the meantime, I’ve printed out all the manuals and read them cover to cover already. (Yeah, I’m THAT guy. Lol) However, there’s no substitute for hands-on experience, so to Themixclinic, thanks for this video. I’ll be better equipped when mine arrives. To explain Ryan’s question, take the time to watch this guy’s video. Really helpful. At about 24:20, he discusses editing Tones versus Scene-wide parameters. Very helpful explanation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqqYeXdqbMRqmsk

I watched some reviews about the Juno-X. And some of them mentioned the external Roland editor which gives you plenty of insights, when you editimg a patch. At least from what I could see in the presentation. Maybe this is what you are looking for?
