Try to shorten those lines as much as possible and run 8 gauge. You might have to trim the ends to fit them into the controller. Mine are around 25 and run fine. Make sure you use pure copper, not coper clad. and real think cables from the charger to the inverter no longer than 3 feet. Long 110v extension cords are OK as a higher voltage will run beter on long distances
@DanThomas-n1e22 күн бұрын
I have those same chargers for 4 year and work perfect. Start over and hook up your batteries first. Voltage test everything. Your chargers should light up with battery condition immediately. Make sure they are register. Voltage test each panel. You should pull 10% on a cloudy day. I have 2000 watts going into two renogy 40 amp chargers and get 80 amps on a summer day. ! run parallel becasue unless you are running long lines its better.

I have about 25 feet of line to the charge controller

Right. I did figure it out I had the clarity wrong on a junction I made inside the camper
@theosalt123 күн бұрын
Strange as it may seem, for solar panels to work, they require SOLAR, i.e. SUNLIGHT.🤣
@journeywithmikepenny886123 күн бұрын
Right! I did end up finding I had the clarity mixed up inside the camper where I made a junction
@jefframsey787925 күн бұрын
Wait for a sunshine day and see if anything changes, before you change anything else?
@journeywithmikepenny886125 күн бұрын
I actually have figured it out. I had the polarity wrong coming to the charge controller. It is working now.

Thanks for the video. The only thing I noticed is you did a great job with the wire gauge from the batteries to the inverter but looking at the wires on the batteries linking them in parallel they appear to be around 6 gauge wires? I recommend increasing that wire gauge to pull the full 2000 watts from your inverter. 168 amps potentially going through those wires would need a minimum of a 2 gauge wire. Also your inverter looks to be a modified sine wave. You can use that for resistive loads without issue (such as a hot plate) but anything with a motor, compressor or sensitive electronic you may want to start clear using because it’s giving off dirty power and may damage your items.
@journeywithmikepenny8861Ай бұрын
Yes, thank you for your comment. I bought the inverter used. I really never plan on running air or my hot water heater off of that inverter mostly just for our lights and receptacles for my TV. But as you said, I may time up the gauge of wire going from battery to battery. Also check out a video or two after this one. I have now ordered a 400 W Renogy solar panel system would like to hear your thoughts on that and so also.

Mike charging a lithium battery to 80% is bad for the battery? You need to be better informed. That statement is wrong. LFP batteries have no memory. In fact most cell manufacturers rate their cells at a 80% DoD. They want you to run the SoC between 90 and 10%
@journeywithmikepenny88612 ай бұрын
I understand it is not the best for lithium batteries. That is why I changed my converter to charge them completely.
