My parents were both polymath prodigies...my father was part of inventing, improving, manufacturing and maintaining the electronics we are using, my mother, professor, lecturer, administrator, national org presidencies, the works. Do not confuse this with consistent understanding and maturity...just far closer than most. But almost all specialists are incompetent in most areas and the failure to balance contextualism in reassessing theory and data in ALL factors, offsetting realistic equilibria of probabilities versus impossible fantasies, versions, pseudo-theorems. This, inevitably, tends to heavily distort competence and perspective. The Einstein myth....without Maxwell and others...and many mathematicians, nothing. OUR DUTY...Equal effort for every student, even ones who won't try to learn how to learn....most, in short. Our educational system is Underfunded, K to 12, by a factor of ten. My parents, again, brought me up to be aware, in advance, that, for example, average Ivy leaguers, and faculty, were and are, slightly retarded, if competent~~~almost always only in hard sciences. A week at Princeton I began to see...understatement. Piaget and Auguste Comte...literal minded infant and untethered speculative non scientists in almost all contexts. But emperor has no clothes, and funny makeup...one cannot see the forest for the sleaze. We are competent scavenger, forager, fisher, hunters....small groups, our mirror neurons can function rationally....but fantasy rules at the modern mass and complexity levels...out of our league...evolution insufficient. Oil and gas gone in century...coal gone, machine age ends forever if we survive...unknowable as of yet.....the Anthropocene. Hand and hoof, stone and wood....and anti-science theocracies will be the new oligarchs...with 'leaders', their cults, myths, military and 'chosen bun' special status. No Neo, no Kwisatch Haderach, no Achilles or Lancelot. Our species would mostly have to be reality based adults. And that is impossible, in time...maybe forever...last part unknowable. Yet. Oh, the clip. Well acted, directed, written.
