I am seeking a device or method, or any tips on how to measure the color rendition range and quality of different printer inks and toners. For instance, consider a color laser printer from SomeBrand with its original toner. Then, I replace the four toners (CMYK) with those from CompatibleBrandA, make the same print, and measure it. I would do the same with inkjet inks on inkjet printers. I am also interested in testing different brands and types of paper to see how they affect the color range, for example. Additionally, it would be insightful to compare different driver settings, such as how the printer-driver-setting of Print Quality varies between standard and best, etc. Therefore, my objective is not to calibrate these and create a color profile for the printers/toners/inks/paper combinations to achieve the best possible results, but rather, to identify the differences in color range, gamut, color fading on light exposure, etc., between different brands of inks, toners, papers, and settings. Could you suggest a test method or device for these measurements?

How does one calibrate HDR in the calibrite app? I can't figure this out for the life of me

You call yourself an ambassador to this scam? X-/Rite is one of the most contemptible companies. Their 'product' does one thing, and one thing only... yet, they continue to reinvent the wheel and force consumers to continue paying for new products when the one they've already purchased works just fine. Same with the software no longer supporting earlier products that are the SAME PRODUCT but gelded by this monopoly of a business.
@jaym59383 күн бұрын
Title should probably state this is for the Version II not the Version I CCP. And shame on X-Rite for screwing consumers over with gelding products to prolong their self-limiting business model.

Great tutorial, thank you! Do you answer questions? In this tutorial you mention to shoot in any white balance EXCEPT AWB. I stopped using my AWB after that, but is there any way to apply profiles to my previous photos shot in AWB? I tried it, but it didn't work very well. My camera software can change the original AWB to any other, but the only output mode is TIFF or JPG, not DNG or RAW. Thank you.

Why don't you compare the color corrected patch colors with the "official" rgb codes of each pathes? (because it does not work...) sounds good, and i accept you like using it, because it is a good toy... but its just a toy...

Why the second grey color square instead of the fourth one as described in other videos/descriptions?
@MattHill23 күн бұрын
@arnaldofonseca great question. the second light gray patch is the same tone/neutrality as the separate larger white balance panel in the ColorChecker Passport Photo. That lighter panel is for white balance, which provides neutral color. All camera manufacturers call it 'white balance' because it's part of the color science used to determine color. Calibrite and X-Rite use the same standards. The darker gray panel is "middle gray" and can be used for exposure determination and adjustment. Hope this helps! Thanks for asking.

Does anyone know how you would incorporate flash into this workflow as it pertains to white balance and the color temperature of the flash for macrophotography?
@MattHillАй бұрын
@OralAnatomyTutor no problems. Yes. Replace any of my advice about choosing a particular light source and replace it with your flash(es). Try making a single custom camera profile for your flash if you only use one. If you use many flashes, make one for each of them. If you notice that the color shifts as the exposure changes 9which is very possible), make a dual illuminant custom camera profile for your flash at its lowest power setting and highest power setting. The reason is that, depending on how the flash modifies the power (as the flash duration gets shorter), there may be a color shift.

Jared -- THESE ONLINE TUTORIALS never seem to match up with what happens here when I try to follow along. Prompts are slightly different, results of hitting a given button are somewhat different, on and on. If I use a Rogue ExpoDisc for "perfect" white light, have I bypassed the issues that the ColorChecker addresses? With 18-percent light going into my camera, it seems the resulting images and colors would be "perfect" at that point. I have the ColorChecker, the ExpoDisc and Lightroom, but Lightroom always seems infernally complicated. Any advice...? Many Thanks! --K.O.

Hello Art. Thanks for the vid. PC user here. I just did a reset on my almost 8 yera old dell desktop & had to reload all my application software & losing a couple of programs. Anyway I have the xrite i1 Display Pro & i1 Studio. I went online & downloaded the 1.31 software & all was/is fine. Today i recieve a pop-up from xrite (or maybe Calibrite) saying i1 Prrofiler 3.2.0 upgrade is available & I should upgrade. So I did. When I use to click on 1.3.1 app tray on the task bar & right click on the i1 Profiler symbol, a option to remeasure my ambient light & rebuild profile would show. I would click on it & the i1 Display Pro would blink a few times, measure & rebuild the profile & I would do a softproof if needed & or just print. With the 3.2.0 it doesn't do that but it blinks every 40 seconds & guessing it is measuring the ambient light. It does give a couple options & one is run the i1 Profiler. Do you think it is neccessary to reprofile everytime I print or,,,??? just wait the 4 weeks I have it set for. Thanks for any replies.

nice video, yet a bit silly. as you show the screen of using calibrite profiler in a benQ SW monitor. the sW monitor line like mine, has BenQ own hardware calibration software (Palette Master). please dont suggest people should use a software based calibration (like Calibrite Profiler) over a more precise hardware calibration (with LUT tables). I hope I misunderstood something or you just pick the wrong monitor to show this tutorial.

Thank you so much for the explanations ! So the presets can only be used on DNG files and not on RAW ?
@MattHill2 ай бұрын
Hi @Bombu - Great question! Sorry if this was not entirely clear. The process requires you to covert the image of the ColorChecker to DNG (in LrC (Library > Convert to DNG) but not ALL your images. Once you have the custom camera profile, you can apply it to your out-of-camera RAW files (.nef, .cr2. cr3, .arw, .orf, .raf etc.) without converting to DNG.
