Ain't no sunshine when she's gone It's not warm when she's away Ain't no sunshine when she's gone And she's always gone too long Anytime she's goes away Wonder this time where she's gone Wonder if she's gone to stay Ain't no sunshine when she's gone And this house just ain't no home Anytime she goes away And I know, I know, I know, I know I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I know, I know Hey, I ought to leave young thing alone But ain't no sunshine when she's gone, whoa-whoa Ain't no sunshine when she's gone Only darkness every day Ain't no sunshine when she's gone And this house just ain't no home Anytime she goes away Anytime she goes away Anytime she goes away Anytime she goes away

I also like these tracks. However, the changes on this one aren't great. Would be great to have one of these, the way you do them, but with the correct chord changes.

Whatever you like. It's a backing track in the key of C Major. The chords played are highlighted. Maybe try some simple arpeggios outlining the current chord played

I still dont know how to use these chord progressions when trying to improvise in a key. I dont want to just play these chords but not sure what to do with them. I dont think those are 4 different keys, but how to improvise in one key. I know the pentatonic patterns/scales and the CAGED system but im still lost about backing tracks.
@michaelaj1924Ай бұрын
intermediate player here, I will try to explain what I know and maybe it will help. You basically have a Key in each song/backing track. Inside this one(example), its C, and its Major. And therefore the scale will be a major scale where the root note will be the key of that scale so its C (or 1, as its the first note of the scale) Inside each key, you have chords that fit, you can find all the chords in this key (or scale) and they follow a pattern (intervals) depending on the type of scale (major, minor, etc). You can search for them in the beginning and then you ll understand and can find them in other keys. Now the pentatonic scale of C major (or A minor pentatonic as its relative scale), will work over any as its 5 notes out of the 7 notes present in the scale, And whatever note of the pentatonic you will play it will fit or even sound good. The point of backing tracks and chord changes, is to know what chord will come up next, and what your main aim for now is try to play the note of that upcoming CHORD, so it will sound really good (you will have to know the notes on the fretboard (or by scale numbers). Then you can try creating a phrasing of any kind but aim to hit the note when that chord changes, so if G chord is gona come up for example, try to hit the G note (anywhere, since you know the CAGED system, you can find the G note in any of the patterns) and see how good it will sound compared to other notes you will play.

As the previous person stated, this example is in the key of C, because all of the chords are found in the key of C. So you could start by trying to improvise using the C major scale, or its relative minor, which is the A minor scale. There are lots of different ways to go about improvising over this, but if you’re just getting started I’d suggest starting there. You could also try the C major pentatonic, or the A minor pentatonic. And if you’re curious about how to find chords in a particular key, then read up on the diatonic chord scale. Cheers!
