Man I haven't been on mine in twenty years. Just dug them out of the barn. Need them now since we're running line sets for mini splits up to two upstairs bedrooms. My grandsons have no idea how to run them. The jacks are at least thirty years old and the jacker is pushing 70. This is going to be something.

Worthless unless you buy longer carriage bolts to clamp the wheels on the top rung.
@Barnzy213

That is a terrible ladder. Those hooks are short and are hooking on the ridge, very unsafe if the ridge tiles break. You can never guarantee how strong those are, your ladder hooks should completely clear the ridge tiles and hook to the tiles on the other side of the roof. That way you can actually work on the ridge tiles if needed. Dumb video

I’m using a product similar to this on a 12/12 garage roof to replace a gable vent and paint the stucco and trim on the house. I use a climbing rope tied to top ladder rung and throw it over the other side and attach it to my truck hitch on the ground. I also use a safety product called a “roof boot” for the bottom of the ladder. I then use a roofers 5-point harness system nailed to a stud on top of the roof. Overkill I know, but I’m a safty conscious guy. This system works great and I feel very safe. PS, I also use rope to tie the ladder hooks to the ladder to keep them tight during ladder install on roof.

My "Air Vent Inc." Static Vents near the roof ridge lasted 20 years but then completely fell apart. The sun cracked the bent (stressed) plastic hinge joints used during assembly on 15 of my 20 vents. Two of the vents actually opened because the standoffs opposite the hinge joint warped, allowing rain to fall through. Tearing my roof up in 20 places seemed too risky. I used Aluminum (Nashua 324A) tape to hold and protect the hinge joint and other cracks. If the tape holds for another 5 years the roof will get replaced. This video is misleading and should be taken down. If duraflow thinks they have a solution I would get a written warrantee which includes replacement labor.

I have them and they work great. things I would add....one not recommended on an extension ladder, two...the swivel wheel can be an issue if on a high peak and the ladder moves left or right before its hooked. and last dont use on a vented peak.

Wow, uploaded in 2010 and I'm the first to leave a comment on this in June 2020??? Incredible! I just received mine today and am thrilled to finally get one. I think it's an ingenious design, simple yet so effective. And the best part is I can attach it to any ladder I'm using and remove it when done unlike my other set I bought over 10 yrs ago still attached to the one special ladder I have dedicated to just uneven ground use. This 1 tool makes all my ladders capable of handling uneven terrain now.

I’ve been researching the best way to get up on a steep roof for many years. I’ve found out that a professional roofer can just get up on that steep roof and just go. They can do things that I have to say is beyond the average person. A regular person like me needs all the help he can get to keep safe. These ladder hooks from all of my research have swivel wheels. The experts say stay away from swivel wheels. They say it will cause a accident that can kill you. I’m not an expert but I’ll listen to an expert. The other thing you need is more coverage of the ridge. These don’t hold on to the ridge good enough. They also don’t have a protective cover to keep from damaging the roof. In the end of all of this if you’re a professional you don’t need all of the things that an inexperienced person needs.
