This black woman commenting on this film sounds like she is talking about a baseball game, or something of a trivial nature, rather than the evils of a genocidal racist society, Great music , composed by Quincy Jones. Quincy s music sounds very authentic.

I saw it in autumn of 1986, as part of an evening class on cartoon drawing, for schoolkids. -It as absolutely brilliant. None of us had seen the film, except for the tutor. It has a nice roller coaster build up, that doesn't seem out of place; first the scenes in space, with some time to find your ways again, then the nurse in the park; and then the train leaves the station: Destination "Adventure" when an autopsy begins. ...One of the small, but fine details, to me, is the character, at the insane asylum, that has been send off to get more medication; the way he announces that he's back, is just fuel for my thought train, at that point in the film :3

“Oh shit, there goes the neighborhood”, haha! I remember watching Swamp Thing on HBO over and over in the 80’s. I was Reggie’s age and Jude was my favorite character! Funny as hell too! You look great Reggie! Cool video!

The reviews of this film get on my nerves, they almost always get the scenes right, they miss the larger picture, the picture being Virgil Tibbs. The reason it works, is because most films dealing with this thorny subject just have pathetically drawn caricatures of the issue (Yes, Trouble In Town, I'm looking at you). Virgil works because he was a flawed human being, clever but as egotistical as the rest of us. That is openly explored in the film, overtly so. It's a road trip, without them dancing together, (the interracial footloose moment), the two protagonists move slightly within their minds, just a bit, both learn something about themselves. That's all you can hope for, really.
