I remember reading this at 16, too stupid and young to know how funny it was, even the priest looked at me as if i masturbated. some of the most true and beautiful stuff you don't get without living some!

Not quite the way I'd imagined how the poet would read it: hearing this helps. I might have laughed in a few places too if the poem had been new to me: note that the further Corso goes, the less laughter despite some inherently funny lines; by that point, everyone understands.

Google "The Dial-A-Poem Poets: Disconnected" It was a vinyl album released in 1974 but you can find all the recording from it on the web.
