In my general experience, if the friction weld is that powerful you'll cook the seals and grease out of your ball joints before it actually releases. At that point, just pull the knuckle and take to a shop with a press. $10 will save a lot of melted wires and wasted parts you wanted to save.
@crazyDIYguy9 ай бұрын
Mine literally ripped apart in two pieces, bearing and internal race came out. Hub is still seized on there. This one is insane.
@MadScientistGarage9 ай бұрын
Now you can use a body saw or a die grinder to notch them!
@Smithers44 ай бұрын
@@MadScientistGarage This happened to me and just the bearing housing part is still in the knuckle. What are you saying to notch and do?
@MadScientistGarage4 ай бұрын
@@Smithers4 notch the inside of the race if you want to keep trying. At some point they're so corroded it's easier to just replace the knuckle and bearing
@Smithers44 ай бұрын
@@MadScientistGarage Notch the part that came out and pound it back in the housing and use the screw hack again your saying? Sorry im not fully getting it but appreciate your response.
@MadScientistGarage4 ай бұрын
@@Smithers4 the outside diameter of the remaining hub section is smaller than the opening in your knuckle, due to corrosion. You can either relief cut it, so it's no longer a complete circle inside that knuckle, or if you're a proficient welder you might stick something to it that a puller or tool could yank it out with. If neither of those options seem doable, just pull the knuckle off and take it to a machine shop with a press, or replace it.
