I liked to think the reboot for the dreamcast/ps2 happened in like an alternative timeline universe that appeared because of all the time paradoxes the first two games caused lmfao.

16:29 I'm sitting here wondering if you are unable to distinguish color differences. Both the bubbles and star fish were both blatantly dark colors. 35:04 OK now I'm convinced you need to go see an optometrist. The egg clearly changes from a purole when bouncing around the room to an orange when you can damage it. I literally watched the full boss fight in another video to double check.

Please do a video on Fantasy Zone I & II. It’s one of the most unique shoot ‘em ups I’ve seen, and visually beautiful that compliments the Brazilian esque soundtrack. The shopping mechanic is one of my favorites. Btw editing skills are insanely asf.

Can you imagine if Sega made a new Ecco reboot or a movie. I can imagine the reboot having a similar tone to Earthbound with a weird and quirky sense of humor with bizarre concepts that hits you with an emotional third act filled with nightmare fuel. If a movie was ever made, it would be an obvious choice for Ecco to be some kind of genetically enhanced super dolphin (I even had an idea in my head for a trailer inspired by Cloverfield where it starts off as an innocent video tape of a family on a boat recording dolphins but then there's a sudden jumpscare with everything being sucked into the sky by a supposed alien ship and the family screaming before cutting to black with that familiar ominous drone as the title fades in).

That intro was 0/10 I literally skipped it after listening to it for a minute How in the world did you do a thousand word essay for a intro and not manage to get my interest I'm thinking about doing an hour long video about how bad this intro was and how to avoid it, and I never did a YT video

These games are a mess. "Nice graphics" and "cool sound" are the only thing that is right here. The gameplay is a complete wreck (pun absolutely intended), you're punished if you play recklessly, but you're punished even harder for playing cautiously, you're punished for engaging in fights, but if you not engage, you're punished anyway. That's not even BDSM, in BDSM you don't get punished if you behave, in Ecco games you get punished regardless of anything, just because these games want to hurt you.

It's the mental warfare we gotta deal with. All the reviewers say its so easy its boring, but reality says otherwise. At least its better than telling the kids at the arcade they're losers and should probably be doing drugs cause they aint gonna win at these games for sure.

Was never even able to make it to Big Blue as a kid. But even then I found the game to be very unsettling and creepy. Playing with friends was quite the experience because we were all terrified, but no one could really explain why. I hand NO IDEA until watching this video that there were living giant DNA strands and time travel and Giger inspired aliens and environments. That's actually really fucking cool. This game was such an odd little gem. Even if the gameplay was awful and frustrating, it's still kinda special in its eerie weirdness.

While I know your initial analysis is comedic, your analysis is correct- if you are a humanist. But as a Christian, you realize that man broke this universe- and that God now offers a choice. Yes, this universe is tough, even unfair- but this is but a moment of existence for those that know God. Why are we here then? To make a choice. Want to do it your own way? God's ok with that. But don't blame him if at the end, all you have is you...

This game was so scary, using cheats to skip to the final boss felt like a punishment. The dread of not only having to face a literal cosmic horror, but also being eaten by it AND being thrown into another machine level as punishment... As far as I remember, not even the invincibility cheat would save you.

The Ecco series is one of my absolute favorites. I was so stoked to see a video essay pop up for it in my recommended. I am still watching, but wanted to say that even though you may not have liked them, I really appreciate you discussing them! :D (also not me just realizing this vid is almost 4 years old...oh well, better late than never I guess haha)

Ecco did back then what most games didn’t do until recent years. Starts off cute and innocent and turns on it’s head 🤣🤣🤣 I got it because it was about a dolphin and the ocean. Sega had an 800 number and you could call and ask for them to send you play guides and they included cheat codes to get a level select and sound library, and they listed password to the levels. The dolphin-alien connection isn’t exclusive to that one incident nor is it based on the alien trend of the time. A few aliens look like humanoid cetacean and sound similar. The Greys and the “tall whites” that are basically like taller slender Greys but a pearlescent pale color. Both have rubbery skin similar to cetaceans. The aliens in the first look like a mashup of the theatrical ‘Alien’ and the Greys 👽 there’s also atmospheric sky beasts, one being known as the “sky medusa” that can be associated with ET crafts or aliens themselves. I got into ET/Astral/metaphysical stuff a while ago and at some point I was looking back on Ecco and it’s funny how much of this stuff overlaps … after watching this it’s even funnier. Also keep in mind that “coincidence” is part of E.C.C.O 🤣 As for Ecco, sounds like he just became a quantum entity. It’s not that bad if you can embrace it.

@carnivalwilson5064Ай бұрын
I'm surprised that more people don't mention this but the thing that sticks out for me about Ecco is that you are playing as a realistically depicted (i.e. not cartoony) wild animal. There are lots of games where you play as a human or an anthropomorphized cartoon animal or a fantasy creature and there are some games where you play as a generic animal (think dinosaur survival-type games), but I really can't think of any other games, especially from that time period, where the player takes on the role of a specific individual animal and plays from their point of view. The idea that a wild animal is an individual being with specific experiences, beliefs, and world-views is a pretty glaring cultural blind spot in modern people.

I loved how weird this game was, but it was extremely difficult, which was common in the 90s. Side note, since you were discussing who created the universe, God created everything and created us to have a loving relationship with Him, but we are separated by our sin because God is holy, so Jesus (who is also God) died in our place on the cross and rose again to restore our relationship and give us eternal life if we will except his free gift of salvation by trusting in Jesus alone. I hope everyone will choose to experience this freedom like I have!

Back in the 90's I made the mistake of joining a stupid larp game because people I knew were doing it and I was bored. Eventually, our group went to another city to play with another group and I found out that the mOsT pOwErFuL person in their game was named Ecco. I laughed my ass off and they were all extremely angry at me because I kept calling him a dolphin. Honestly, dude had it coming. Plus a friend of mine wound up trolling them so hard they bought his story about "rabid were-canal beavers" and almost caused the people running the game to end it. So yeah, a win, I guess.
