The issue is the slinky needs to be chaotic to actually fool a squirrel. They learn fast, but if designed right there will be nothing to learn

My parents used to complain on end about the squirrels in the bird feeder. I showed them this video. They went out and bought a Slinky the next day. I got a text later on that said, "It works!!"

I think a slinky as a part of a layered defense against squirrels, is definitely effective. One alsp has to change things up to keep them guessing and not get overly confident regarding individual defensive obstacles

I guess I got a poor quality slinky. Mine does not retract back up like this and most of it falls to the bottom of the pole. Mine is supposed to be a genuine Slinky. Are there other, better brands?
