you referring to bank #1 IMRC when you said ford calls it upper intake and bottom intake? bank 1 refers to the side of the engine where cylinder #1 is located

I like this idea, BUT, forcing the compressor to cycle longer sounds like it would shorten the life of the compressor, which is very costly, if you can't replace it yourself.
@GreenCastleGarage16 күн бұрын
It's not enough to even be a noticeable impact. The truck in the video is going strong still and I'm pretty sure that was 2 years ago. It's also at 160k on the original ac compressor.

Just did this job myself, with the exact same part number and Murray brand from O'Reilly, and inside that box where the thermostat and gasket came, there is also a thick cardboard cylinder that looks like the center of a roll of toilet paper, and that is actually the tool you're supposed to use to compress the spring on the thermostat for removing the old thermostat and installing the new one to the housing. You position the cylinder on top of the circular metal disc at the top of the thermostat, and press down until it slides inside the cylinder, then you proceed to push down to move the metal teeth passed the grooves on the housing, then give a twist to lock it in place. Quite easy and only took a few seconds... Didn't realize that that's what it was for until after trying with other tools unsuccessfully...

The design of the cam phaser was the principle cause. But the problem is exasperated by dirty oil. Use full synthetic oil at 5k intervals and combine it with the flood start demonstrated here and the problem may self correct. This worked for me after 3 oil changes.

Do you need to buy the motor AND resistor?
@GreenCastleGarageАй бұрын
No, I just put both links in the description because alot of people (myself included) change the resistor if changing the motor. It is a common failure point and right next to the motor, so I just go ahead and replace it as well. You definitely do not have too though.

it does no damage your enginer?
@GreenCastleGarageАй бұрын
No no no, it just reduces it to minimum. By letting the starter cycle you build oil pressure to the timing components and prevent the chain slap. It will still slowly wear down and become a major problem. This is just to reduce risk and allow more rime before making the repair. We probably waited about 6 months or so honestly, but the sooner the better if you can.

How do you remove the top clip that holds the a pillars on?
@GreenCastleGarageАй бұрын
This was so long ago I don't remember exactly. A pillars usually have one screw hidden under the little square that says airbag. Once that's out just pull hard toward the center console. Those clips are hit or miss and have a 50/50 shot of needing to be replaced
@jasonmurawski5877Ай бұрын
@GreenCastleGarage I figured out how to remove the clip after I broke it. 30$ for a used trim on ebay and 20$ for the clip
@GreenCastleGarageАй бұрын
@jasonmurawski5877 sheeesh, that gets so frustrating. Manufacturers now make 1 time use trim clips. They are designed to break if removed and have to be replaced.......so frustrating. Glad you it off at least, sorry I wasn't more help
@jasonmurawski5877Ай бұрын
@GreenCastleGarage no worries. The stupid clips on the pillar dug in and broke off because they're almost impossible to get out of the holes in the body. And instead of a normal screw or clip they had some weird design that you have to special order from gm if you break it. Live and learn I guess

At 68 crawling around I can't take that any more like I did when I was younger. 😞

@JohnSmith-uy7sv Yes, you can just replace the bushing if they are the problem. This was quite a while ago and my memory isn't great, but I'm pretty sure that was tough even standing. @puprilla hahahahaha, that's a good starter scanner for sure. I haven't played with them much but every scanner is fairly similar. Well, until you start hooking up laptops but that's getting advanced. Should be a scan for dtc option fairly quickly. I can't remember if you need to scan each module independently or not on the foxwell. Either way play around with it, you can't really hurt anything unless you see a special functions option. Even then it's far and few between.
