Good video. Many S.A. plants thrive here on the gulf coast, and I have a large variety of them in my gardens. Crocosmia/montbretia is a recent one, and I found it growing at an old homesite. Agapanthus is a favorite.

Can you clarify what cutting back to two leaves means? Does that mean leaving two layers of leaves up from the trunk when you trim?

My bonsai leaves are turning yellow. I water weekly and the plant gets sun. Just trying to figure it out.

Same. I'm starting to think Home Depot is just plain ripping people off. I know how to care for plants and I can't get my bonsai from home depot to stop dropping leaves and turning yellow. 😠

If it’s an I door bonsai it should be in a well lit area but should be kept out of direct sunlight
@sheepslug Жыл бұрын
I had the same problem as you, but I've seen to find a solution! First step is to make sure it is not in direct sunlight! Don't put it on a window seal, instead find a place near the window. The Second step is to rotate the tree every couple days. This way, not just one spot is getting direct sunlight, and instead, it is share through the plant. Hope this helps! 👍

You have to plant deep to allow for ground swell. Otherwise roots will grow on top of the ground.

This is unfortunately one of the problems with how to videos on KZbin, someone who had no idea how to tackle this job would watch this and think it was the correct method, "It Isn't. Root ball way too deep, I would be interested to know if this particular shrub even survived and if so it's probably not doing very well. By far the worst part of this video though was the music which became unbearable 😂😂😂😂😂

Oh my God! That rootball was horrible and then planted WAY TOO DEEP! The root flare was BURIED. I doubt this plant made it. Obviously, not a gardener...

what type of bonsai is the first tree?

Thanks for your enquiry! The plant in the terracotta pot is a Ficus variety. The one in the greeny-blue pot is a Juniper :)

Hey, what did you put on where you cut the branch? My Bonsai needs pruning too, it’s grown a lot this year, What If I don’t put that chewing gum looking thing, will it get any disease or anything?
@LifeisaGardenSA6 жыл бұрын
Hello there! We didn't put anything on the bonsai after the smaller twigs were pruned - you only need to use bonsai cut paste (chewing gum looking item in the clip) for larger branch cuts to prevent scarring, drying or infection. You may like to visit your local GCA Garden Centre or bonsai experts for some advice. This is the best gardening video I've seen for both kids and adults. Couldn't have put it better myself. I've been gardening since 6 years old .. (that's 60 years). I loved the simple watering instructions .. very well put. Most people over water or kill their plants by too much fertilizer. Great video.
