You're an inspiration Jamie! I have been feeling really great after being in insane AS pain for over a year. But my biologic is finally doing wonders and I recently returned to the gym to restore my weight training routine. Regretfully, I was too ambitious and strained a hip flexor probably from doing leg presses and squats even with light weight, so I am still healing from this. But once I'm healed and can stand on my feet, I will return with a vengeance so that my 58 year old self can keep up with you.😅 Thanks again for posting your inspirational videos!😊

I have AS and im 58. I'm happy to report that I have been able to restore my weight training routine but with lighter weight. The movements as you demonstrate feel really good. However, I was able to weight train again only because my body has had a great response to a biologic called Amjevita which I believe is similar to Humira. 😅😅😅

Pain started in my knee, then my hip, then debilitating low back pain at night time every single night for years. Flexibility isn’t just about stretching. 👀 Take it from someone who was stiff as a statue who lives with inflammatory arthritis #ankylosingspondylitis 😮 Static stretching plays an important role in flexibility development, and some people can make amazing progress with flexibility solely through static stretching. Take, for instance, most physical yoga practices. Some individuals can simply practice yoga and achieve significant flexibility gains. Unfortunately, I wasn’t one of those people. While I made some progress with yoga, it wasn’t enough. The real game-changer for me was focusing on strength through deeper ranges of motion, building end range strength, incorporating various forms of flexibility training, and understanding how the nervous system plays a role in movement. I’m still on the journey, but the progress I’m seeing now is undeniable. 💪 Flexibility isn’t just about being bendy-it’s about building strength, control, and connection. (What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to flexibility? Let me know below!)

Beware of anyone promising a quick fix for posture-they’re probably just trying to sell you something. Posture is about so much more than a “perfect” stance-it’s influenced by muscle strength, joint mobility, and your nervous system. It takes time and a balanced approach to improve. In this video, I show an example of how I work on posture, but remember, it’s important not to pathologize it. Focus on feeling strong, stable, and comfortable in what’s natural for you.

Training with arthritis isn’t always a straight path, but it’s all about keeping that upward trend. 📈 The key is to listen to your body and adapt day-to-day, week-to-week. Avoid the “boom and bust” cycle-some days, you won’t lift as heavy or push as hard, and that’s perfectly okay. Remember, our ego might push us to always do more, but real progress takes patience. We often overestimate what we can achieve in 6 months and underestimate what’s possible in 10 years. I’ve learned this firsthand with my own journey managing ankylosing spondylitis. It hasn’t always been smooth, but after a decade, I’m stronger and more flexible than ever. Embrace the journey, even when it’s not perfect. 💪

Thank you for the great information:) I get uveitis attacks almost all the time , I was hospitalised for 10 days in 1988 and had steroid injections into my eye and despite my recent diagnosis with AS I don’t get the Biologics ( Humira) because I couldn’t tolerate it. I’m constantly having to use steroid eye drips that have caused cataract in both eyes Lately I’m seeing blue auras with constantly seeing flashes of light and it’s not just my eyes that are constantly painful , I am having migraines every day, I had an internal bleeding on C5 of my spine in 1993 which paralysed me and I had to undergo a laminectomy operation Which helped me to walk again after 3 months There are no many things wrong with my body that’s a wonder how I’m still alive! I should’ve died but something wants to keep me alive! , thank you for your video:) Wishing you all the best 🙏🏻
