Does this pattern change the stretchability at all so that you should add a couple more stitches to the circumference OR does it not make any difference? Thanks so much for all of your very informative and helpful videos!

I've been knitting this in knit 2 purl 1 and I don't think it changes the elasticity at all.

Not enough that I would add more sts to the circumference.

Thank you for a fantastic video! You explain so clearly what I have been trying to figure out! Clock or anticlockwise + leading leg...+ Western /Eastern... And then influence on finished product. My hands are getting sore, need to change my method, c so this is exactly what I needed to understand

@@thechillydog The sample colorway + Rio were in my top 5 (I think there were 6 options??? haha) I chose white to black perlen w Red solid. Love Red + Black = so cozy! I can always (!!) get more, right? But I think I better finish ONE thing first…ahem. Right. Probably not (grin grin)…

Thank you. I don't know why it's taken me this long into my knitting journey to get this. I've tried Italian cast on but find it hard to reliably get the first row without twisting, and alternating cable cast on is fussy to work and limited in the stitch combinations that are allowed.

I knit the heel flap and gusset heel with just a couple extra rows on the heel flap, I have chunky feet, and my first pair of socks are a little tight at the ankle. You’ve relieved my curiosity about short row heels, I hate doing the gusset, but I’m not sure short row heels would fit me. I like the pattern on your socks made with plain yarn.❤

So incredibly simple. And yet so brain-twisting. Keeping chart straight from row to row could be very confusing if you’re doing anything besides concentrating on the chart..

Ok so I'm left handed... is this how I should be knitting?
@thechillydog
@thechillydog 10 күн бұрын
Great news! Handedness doesn't matter in knitting. No matter what, you have a knitting needle in each hand, and right-handed or left, you can choose which hand feels the most natural for managing your yarn. Remember, it is customary to knit from right to left in the US and that is how patterns are written, so I would not recommend reverse knitting as an all-the-time practice.

@thechillydog I am a crocheter so my hook is in my left hand and my project and yarn is held in my right so it just feels more comfortable to bring my yarn over the top of my needle from behind but I was so confused when I would purl. I love the look and drape of knitted blankets as crochet can kind of be a little too stiff sometimes. Also this method of purling feels more comfortable. I've mastered garter stitch but that's it. I think I'll give this a try later on today. Thank you so much for explaining

You are a wonderful mind reader!! I couldn’t understand why I was getting an extra stitch when I knit toe up socks! I just saw myself 8 you making that mistake of the yarn under instead of on top of the needle. I am trying to learn continental style because mt arthritis is so painful in my right hand.

I’ve definitely had the yarn over happen to me. One thing I found helpful when starting a new row with a pearl is to use the Norwegian purl. If I have other purls to do I go back to the continental way of purling. Thanks for sharing your tips, you’re always so clear in your instructions.

If you find it too fiddly to transfer the stitches one at a time by inserting the knitting needle from right-to-left through each stitch on the crochet hook, you can just slide all of the stitches onto the knitting needle and then knit the first round through the BACK loop to untwist the stitches.
