After having a MS trimmer and not able to purchase spare blades I have now gone to a Sizzix trimmer/ scoreboard.Still in the learning phase only had it a few days…..impressed with the trimmer tho.

I love your video...I have dropped down the same hole too!! I have a Guillotine Trimmer, and they state that you should not cut cardboard or chipboard with it. I suppose it separates the chopper away from the trimming edge, then it's hard to get it to cut straight after you do that. I have five or six blade trimmers, which are just stored away. My latest one is a Tonic, and it cuts like a dream, except it does not cut straight...so you have to really push the straight edge close to the top part. As of now, I am going back to my old Fiskers Rotary Trimmer I have had for twenty years.

A Rotary Trimmer is 100% my next investment, I just never hear anything bad about the Fiskers one! I just can't find a trimmer that I'm in love with and although the Cricut one has been going "ok" its not perfect :(

I received the 168 set for Christmas and then the 104 and skin tones for my birthday. There were some double ups from the skin tones. I found a colour order swatch chart online and that’s helpful for getting colours that blend together. I really enjoy them. I do love my copics but the price stopped me from getting more. Plus I’ve found several which have dried out whiskey disappointing. Time will tell with my ohuhu’s on drying out but at the price I don’t mind so much if that happens.
@leeshaplans8 ай бұрын
ooooo how exciting!!! The good thing about the Ohuhu ones is that you can take out the nib bit and flip It over, so its like you have a brand new marker again, it sucks that you can't by re-fills but they are getting more popular so maybe one day. Copics are nice - I was lucky to be gifted some so it been interesting seeing how they differ but its so slight, and for the colouring I will be doing, definitely not worth the price. Did you find that the skin tone colours have been worth it? I'm just not sure how often I would use them :/

I have a couple of alcohol inks to try but haven’t got to it yet. Can’t wait to see what you do! Have you tried distress oxide on photo paper (I use Kmart photo paper), it’s amazing the colours you get. I’m waiting to find a gelli plate on a good sale too! Try hand sanitizer on your print maker board it should get the glue marks off, I use it on my glass mat. We are so alike I think in inches for crafting too!😂😂
@leeshaplans9 ай бұрын
great tips!!! thank you. No I haven't tried the oxide on photo paper - I know where ill be going on the weekend lol Hand sanitiser! ill give that a go - but it reminds me I watched a video where you use that with the inks - it has a different effect to the Isocol and the blending solutions loll ill add it to my list haha.

Outstanding reviews of a variety of paper trimmers!! Very thorough and honest presentation. I too feel your pain with many of the trimmers you've showcased. Cutting a straight line is my biggest problem with many trimmers - including my favorite guillotine trimmers. What I have learned with the guillotine design is that you need to press "in" ever so slightly when lowering the cutting blade. If you're right handed, hold the paper down firmly with your left hand close to the cutting edge and with your right hand, pull down and "in" to get a clean, straight cut. Glad you showcased the Cricut Trimmer - - one of my friends gave me her Cricut Trimmer before she moved out of the country. Working on a project that required me to cut at various positions on a 6 x 6 piece of paper, I found the Cricut trimmer to be a crafter's dream come true!!! I could position the paper at several different angles and secure a perfect cut every single time. And - no jagged edges - LOVE IT!!! Now I have both the Memory Keepers guillotine and the Cricut trimmers on my desk at all times. Thanks so much for your great video! Happy Crafting!!

I am looking for a good paper trimmer. I am considering buying a German made rotary cutter that I have seen online. I have several cutters and some cut really well but… most of them don’t line the paper up square! That drives me crazy! I’m not sure that I heard you mention that particular issue.
@leeshaplans10 ай бұрын
omg the note lining up issue does my head in - I watched a video from Maymay made it where she went over some "tips" for things not alining right and I have found that this has helped. The 2 tips that I remember and now do are 1. to make all your cuts with the same trimmer and 2. to pick if you are going to cut on the mark, before the mark or over the mark (ie: the line at 7, if you cut on that line, make all your cuts on the line) this should ensure that all things match. so far I have really notice a difference since paying closer attention to that <3

@Kiiyobi10 ай бұрын
@@leeshaplans I agree, I feel like it has changed a lot the last 2 years. It personally think that it’s correct what you said regarding that the stores has left Etsy. It has made the prices higher and more difficult to find new stores

I don't plan with 'no white space' & have lots of stickers in my stash, so I spread the stickers about a bit. My style is definitely not minimal, but it means I don't have the expense of using an entire kit every week or month.
@leeshaplans10 ай бұрын
my "left over" pile is out of control lol its a bonus of the kits that include a lot of options. I have recently been make spreads just using left overs and they turn out really nice <3

I use We Are Memory Keepers paper trimmer and score board and it works for me. You have to use the trimmer blade started at the top not the bottom.

Thanks for showing this, I did look at it recently but figured it was like an Express It sticky sheet which I didn’t like. There seemed to be so much waste because you can’t use a fairly large amount of the dots.

I went through so many trimmers looking for a good one. I finally bought a Fiskars with the rotary blade and I love it. I have used it for several years and never had to change the blade. If something happened to it I would definitely get another one like it. I got mine on sale for a great price. But I would be willing to pay full price if I had to.

I have heard so many good things about that trimmer! Defiintly on my list for the next one I get.

I have these but as the digital download. Then printed them on copic paper using a laser printer so I could use my alcohol markers. With stamping I’ve started heat embossing the image with clear embossing powder then colouring and really like the outcome. It gives me a much stronger black than using my alcohol marker friendly momento ink on its own.
@leeshaplans10 ай бұрын
ooo great tip re the clear embossing powder! ill have to give that a try <3

I've used a Fiskars for years and use the Titanium blades but only buy them when on special at Spotlight or their 30% off store wide sales. However over the years of cutting many types of papers I sometimes find that cutting papers in different directions ie up or across will give me the little fuzzy pieces....I'm always wary of buying the not so popular trimmers because I want to know that I'm going to be able to buy replacement blades🌹

Ugh I feel your pain going through all these trimmers. I have gone through the same thing. Happy you found the cricut trimmer and liking that so far. I have that one also and really like it for travel. I like how slim it is and I find the refills to be pretty cheap too, when you can get them on sale. I went through the same thing could not stand the fuzzies. Also, I don’t like the lip you can get sometimes on your paper because sometimes I like to reverse it and then I felt like I had to bend it out if I wanted to use the opposite side of the paper I was cutting. Found out you’ll get that with these type of trimmers (v blade style) , but with a rotary trimmer you would not. Because it’s a circular cut on top of a flat base it’s cutting on top of. My favorite trimmer now that I’ve loved for a couple years now is the Creative Memories rotary trimmer. If you ever have a chance to try that one at a crop or a friend, having it definitely give it a try! Well worth every penny. You get so much more life out of the same blade, I’m still on my same blade,you do also have to change out the mat but you’re able to change it in four different directions so I’m still on my first mat as well After two years! They also have different blades you can purchase as well like a deco blade, wavy, scallop I love adding those details now to my layouts.

I like the cricut but especially like the Dress my craft. Bought 2 so I can leave one upstairs, it's that good! I tend to UT in my lap on a lap board since my desk is chaos and I get great cuts and scores . I haven't tried the new Tim Holtz, but am so happy with the Dress my craft can't see myself buying the Tim one. Have used the Fiskars with the wire guide for so many years, and so am spoiled by the wire for placement. So in the end I reach for the fiskars or the Dress my craft. The cricut one is now my spare for craft classes.
@leeshaplans10 ай бұрын
Lol... Love that you brought 2!! the Dress my Craft one is high on my list of wants, I like that it can score at the same time, and given the WRMK scoreboard drives me nuts, I think a trimmer that can do both (score and cut) will be a good option :)
