Always remember when we were driving to Bolsover to see my Aunt and Uncle ( he was a miner) how much the Coalite works chimney stunk, even from the motorway.

If not for a contributor like yourself, I never would have been able to view this lovely place. Thank you for posting this video.

Love the sounds and sights! Bess Hardwick had numerous descendants in the U.S. especially through her great granddaughter Jane Lowe and husband Henry Sewall who settled in Maryland. Bess’ great-great grandmother Isabel Aylesbury was a sister of Eleanor Aylesbury who was an ancestor of Col. Thomas Ligon of Virginia who was one of my forebears.

Thank you for sharing this footage! My family's roots are here but we've now been in Canada for generations, since before Canada became a country in 1867.

Brilliant photos Allan. Thank you for sharing them. I left the refinery in 2003, it still looked the same as your photos!

Are you the Alan Turford from Bolsover Amateur Radio Society? I used to live at Romeley Hall Farm, downwind from Coalite (between Clowne and Stanfree, up a lane)

A piece of history gone, when you consider these places where meant to last 20/25yrs if that, and they carried on right up to the present day.they could have been upgraded further if needed-composite doors, and PVCU windows could just have been the start for these little gems, but still.A triumph of a caring, postwar socialist government to make sure a home was available for everyone.Noble, very noble indeed.

Fantastic video alfonzo! I run a website dedicated to similar property types many of which are being demolished as time goes by, only to be lost in the annals of history. Your video captures the demolition of an era of time gone by. Thank you for filming the facinating piece and sharing it with everyone. :0)

Its good to have a record of Bolsover before any more changes. Back in the early 80's I was going to do a short version, due to cine films only lasting about 3 mins.I started filming on my cine 8 camera coming off Hilltop, but it was cut very short by my driver, who drove into a Beer lorry that was unloading at the Black Bull pub. Thanks for the video.
