If you're installing these footpegs on the R 1300 GS the shifter will interfere. Remove it using a T40 torx before removing the footpegs. Then reinstall after the pegs are in place, be sure to use thread lock.

Is there a way to add a piece to the lower crash bars so that the bike does not fall flat? this is keeping me from choosing the Africa Twin over the GS. Similar to what the stunt riders use on street bikes?
@AltRiderLLC9 күн бұрын
Our crash bars offer excellent protection from damage when dropping your bike.The lower crash bars keep the engine protected when the bike goes down. But we don't offer anything that would keep the bike more upright when dropping the bike.

Very helpful vid. How do you torque the nut if you can't fit a socket on it?
@AltRiderLLC13 күн бұрын
We simply used an opened ended wrench instead of a socket as seen in the video. Note - we no longer carry Pivot Pegs. We now make our own pegs that have some great upgrades for many different models of bikes!

It is possible to do a side stand pivot, our billet aluminum design is just as strong, if not stronger than the cast aluminum side stand from Yamaha. We don’t recommend doing a side stand pivot, even with the OEM side stand.

@AltRiderLLCАй бұрын

well i have had my kick stand on my bike for over a year now, but what i did not do was to put lock tight on the side stand adjusters, as they are steel and screwing into aluminium, ,so i just put copper Greece, on the adjuster as they are not a loaded part, as in the past over time the steel can corrode in to aluminium. but i am pleased that i purchased, the kick stand, as it does as it says on the tin, but as i live in the UK i payed £200 for the kick stand and worth every penny. yours Kevin

Well.. its thinner and lighter but doesn't protect the bottom of the radiator. Time will tell now its installed. Stay with OEM guard. Thinner and lighter its going to do anything.
@AltRiderLLCАй бұрын
@loup207 Thanks for the feedback! Although the bottom edge isn't covered, the entirety of the face is. We considered if we should cover the bottom edge, but ultimately decided it didn't need it. We all know the fins are the most vulnerable and the bottom edge is a small area and if anything did impact it would have such a shallow angle of attack that any damage would be quite unlikely. We're not aware of any instances of our guard failing, but we're always listening for any differing experiences or opinions 👍
@loup207Ай бұрын
Welcome. I figured you all do your home work which is why your product is one of the best. I ended up putting my stock guard back on because it has mud spatter and small dings so it is protecting under the radiator. I may cut it off and zip tie it. Keep on riding!!

@timesink101 Sorry you had some challenges. The best thing to do would be to contact our customer service with a phone call or email: +1 206-922-3618 or [email protected] The spring goes on our clutch arm nearly the same way as how the OEM arm goes on. Did take out the slack at your lever on the bars and then make adjustments at the end of the cable sheath with the 2 bolts? Between those 2 adjustments hopefully you should be able to get things snug and operating correctly. If you're still having some difficulties contact us and we should be able to help!

I finished installing the side stand. Great sturdy piece. 2 questions though, there’s a bit of a play (just when I put the bike on stand) between the side stand and the piece that goes into the frame with the 2 big 10mm Allen bolts, although the bolts are tight and used red lock-lite as per factory. Also, would it be advisable to leave to bike until the blue locktite dry? (From the side stand bolts) or is this a dumb question? :) Thanks
@AltRiderLLC2 ай бұрын
We designed our side stand based of the factory side stand. So it should fit around the clevis the same as your factory stand, in fact if you put your original side stand back on you'll likely see the same little bit of play. Threadlock is important, if you're using the more permeant threadlock (red) just be aware you may have to use heat to remove the nut in the future. Letting the threadlock dry is great, but not really necessary unless you're going on a looonggg drive that would rattle the fasteners enough to loosen them

Unless this lowers the bike a good 5” it’s not great. I’m 6-3 and this bike is ridiculously high even for me. I went to look at one yesterday cause I really wanted it but I couldn’t believe how high it was, I mean, it’s really bad. Honda really limited their audience with this bike. Sure I could ride it, but not flat footed. I love the comfort of cruisers but I grew up on dirt bikes so I now want a multi purpose. I was ready to buy but I sadly had to walk away
@AltRiderLLC3 ай бұрын
We totally hear you, it can certainly be a challenge to learn to deal with height that most adventure bikes have. Getting on an adventure bike is a whole different game compared to other bikes. Of course, Honda and other manufacturers set the bike up high for a reason - primarily to improve it’s off-road capabilities. Adventure bikes have their compromises - they’re not the best at on road use and they’re not the best at off road use, but they’re pretty good at both! The design of the suspension means that you can physically move the seat any lower an inch. One inch doesn’t sound like much, but it can go a long ways in building confidence, or making it just a bit easier to dab your feet on the ground.

This part is no longer offered, it has been replaced with our Variable Height Suspension Links that offer 3 different height settings: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJXHZ2Ofhq-thpYsi=qkKXqk0LreqmTsq5 It can lower the seat height 2 different settings or raise it. The maximum it will lower your suspension is 30mm (1.1 in). To simulate this you can find a block that is roughly 1.1 in tall and then stand on that while on the bike. That should give you an excellent idea of how much of your foot you can get on the ground. It's really hard to speculate how much it would be for you since there are so many variables including how long your legs are and how you sit on the bike. You can be sure it would make a noticeable difference though!
