The whole 2 vs 3 channel thing is way overcooked, and the actual differences between them are way smaller than people think. I'm not saying that a lot of two channels can sound a little better, but I've also heard 3 ch recto's that sound better than 2 channel rectos, so theres differences amp to amp to consider, but in all reality, the main differences that can't be matched sometimes are a few small capacitor values in the tonestack, and the reason the 3 channel flubs out more in the low end is because they use more filtering in the power caps, but you'll hear people say it's the transformer, but it's not. Another thing that I guarantee can be true, and I'm not saying in your case it is, but I've heard 2, and 3 channel recto's side by side sound virtually identical, and for example what could be happening with a lot of the 3 channel recto's is, the filter caps are pushing 20-30 years old, and they have way less capacitance on the filter caps, meaning the actual amount of capacitance is lower in the 2 channels, so not only is it at a disadvantage there to begin with, but if the caps are even a little bit cooked, the amp isn't gunna respond as well, and be as tight. I can almost guarantee that if you just put in a new set of filter caps, the 3 channel would sound way tighter, so just food for thought. All I'm saying is the differences aren't as much as most people think, and then when you do start comparing amps that are 20, 30, 40 years old theres guaranteed to be shotty filtering somewhere, and it's likely to be more apparent in the 3 ch to begin with, and component drift in general, but in terms of the 2 channels, there's def a few points in the eq where the 3 channel just sounds different, and that's because they are actually using different values in the tonestack. I feel like you can easily mod a 3 channel to be pretty well exactly the same, or better than a stock 2 channel, but I'm convinced there's just so much hype, even if most people had a good modded 3 channel, they would still think there's something in a 2 channel that just can't be reached, but like I said, not only have I heard 2, and 3 channel rectos side by side that sound almost identical, so I think people just don't get it. Like all most people have is KZbin video's, and even someone's chain is gunna make a huge difference, so if you go listen to a 2 channel on one channel, and then another one somewhere else they will sound different, and I guarantee that most people just either don't know how to dial them in, or like in your case, at least what I heard here, is they sounded really really close, but it does sound to me like the 3 channel needs new caps. That's another thing I think people don't know, because for example I was just in a session with my JCM900, and it sounded good, and everyone was happy, but then I figured out right away that it wasn't quite sounding like the 900 Ive used for years, and know, and love, because it was just sounding slightly flubby in the low, and didn't quite have the punch it usually has, but it wasn't obv because it sounded like a marshall, just like you say, the three channel still sounds like a recto. So anyway, it was just setup day, and that night I quickly put in some new caps, and man, it was like holy shit, I didn't even realize just how bad it needed them, and they were only like 20 years old, and to add to it, it was actually wired wrong, and wasn't using all the filtering, it was only using half of the second 50uf/50uf cap, and like I say, it wasn't even something super obv ], but once you do it you realize just how much tighter, and direct it sounds. Anyway, I'm totally rambling on here, but I dunno if you still have the three channel, but if you do, honestly just try it, I guarantee you'll be surprised, because like I say, the three channels are using way smaller values all together than the 2 channel, so they need the help in that area, not to mention if you up the values a little bit, that will get it even closer. Also, make it an experiment, make a setup, I'd recommend just using a Cab sim so you can repeat it without fault, and record the three channel as is, then recap it, and record it again, note the exact setting the first time, and just clip gain in the DAW after if there happens to be a slight difference on the master volume, or the preamp, and then as a second test compare it to the two channel again. Another test I'd recommend just too get a sense of the real differences is record the 2 channel, and then the three, dial it in as close as humanly possible, and then run the preamp of the 3 channel into the power amp of the 2 channel, and even vice versa. Mess with that a bit, because the biggest differences of them are in the tone stack, the presence tone stack(in the power amp), and the filtering.

Viva o metal e o Rock n'Roll. Viva a boa música. Não deixe de produzir a sua música, ela me inspira a fazer a minha e sei que inspira a muitos outros com eu!!! Parabéns e que venham muitas outras em 2025!!!!!!

Oh yeah - I think that if you had 2 guitarists in the band, both have same amp/cab for ability to swap on the road - this might be different enough to make it work off each other? I know this is old, just looking for guyatone reviews, and thanks for doing this video!
