Before I moved to Oregon, I stopped in Knott's Hotel a few times for meals and such. I do remember on one visit seeing signs that the building was under renovation and the 'curved' stair that was in the lobby has now been transformed to a 'flat' stair along the wall. All hotels need upgrades now and again. All the best to future success at Knott's!
