I installed the valves on my three drones, and it took me a while to get the settings right, but they work fine when I stop the tune. But I've noticed that I don't hear the drones vibrate on start-up, as they do when there are no valves. I hear the note instead. Is there any adjustment to be made? Maybe I tightened it too much? thank you for your advice

Do plastic pipes handle heat and humidity better than Blackwood pipes? My Blackwood pipes swell and expand in our hot and humid summers here in Arkansas. The joints get loose , my chanter popped out during a funeral in June. Luckily it was the last measure of Amazing Grace and locals knowing nothing about bagpipes didn’t know anything was wrong.

I have a set, they have a harder sound compared to my blackwood AB1 set. I also don't like that the hemp section on the tuning pins are smaller than my other set. The drone reed seats are also oversized.

I find that the rediscovering of bellows pipes are misleading, Fred Morrisons pipes are in fact , Highland pipes with bellows, if you look at old prints , Scottish lowland pipes were similar to other pastoral pipes of Britain and Ireland, also Fred Morrisons style of playing is the Pibroch Highland style, not from traditional musical formats.
