Come on learn to start it with your left foot. Takes a little practice. Get it just past TDC, then a good kick. Should fire up nice and easy. I have owned a 440 since 97. Not hard to learn, just take a little time and practice and train that left leg.

Sounds like a jetting problem on that yamaha, possibly dropping your needle in the carb to lean up the low end.

You just need a smaller bike, your not getting the full potential out of that yz and if you just want to cruise through the woods then get something like a drz 250 or xr 250. You would have a lot more fun

or just learn how to use something manual.....

In my defense this once my first time in the mountains, and I didn't adjust the air/fuel so it was running pretty bad, and stalling at off throttle.

Dude, WTF, give it some gas!! You should try a Rekluse Clutch if your gonna ride that YZ in the NC woods!!

Why did you feel the need to lower the gearing? I have a 95 also and found the stock gearing to suit it pretty well in some pretty awful conditions. I ride the west/northwest in some pretty steep and complicated terrain.

Thanks for the reply, we are gonna try a leaner jet on the idle side and see how it does.

My bike is an 2003 YZ 250, and I never have fouled a plug. I run 40:1 fuel ratio with the Rad Valve and 2 sizes leaner on the main jet versus stock. At the time of this video the bike had a leaking crankshaft seal, and would blow oil out the exhaust, but never would foul a plug.

Nice riding, looks like the best time to go riding is when it is raining. May we please have specs on your bike and fuel mixture ratio? Have a 2001 YZ250 that has been fouling plugs at low speeds. We can run it hard all day and it won't fail, but in the tight wooded sections it will foul at low speeds. Does yours foul plugs? We ride our bike similar to the way you ride in the slower sections.
