Is this Vespers I or Vespers II for the Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel? So the Psalms are taken from the Common of the BVM. Per the LOTH, Common of the BVM Vespers I = Ps 113 (112 LV), Ps 147:17-20 and Canticle Eph 1:3-10 Vespers II = Ps 122 (121 LV), Ps 127 (126 LV) and Canticle Eph 1:3-10 ************************************** ‘Dixit Dominus’ Ps 110 (Ps 109 LV) Ps 110 The Lord’s revelation to my Master: † “Sit on my right: * your foes I will put beneath your feet.” The Lord will wield from Zion † your scepter of power: * rule in the midst of all your foes. A prince from the day of your birth † on the holy mountains; * from the womb before the dawn I begot you. The Lord has sworn an oath he will not change. † “You are a priest for ever, * a priest like Melchizedeck of old.” The Master standing at your right hand * will shatter kings in the day of his wrath. He shall drink from the stream by the wayside * and therefore he shall lift up his head. Ps 109 LV Dixit Dóminus Dómino meo:* «Sede a dextris meis, donec ponam inimícos tuos* scabéllum pedum tuórum». Virgam poténtiæ tuæ emíttet Dóminus ex Sion:* domináre in médio inimicórum tuórum. Tecum principátus in die virtútis tuæ,† in splendóribus sanctis,* ex útero ante lucíferum génui te. Iurávit Dóminus et non pænitébit eum:* «Tu es sacérdos in ætérnum secúndum órdinem Melchísedech». Dóminus a dextris tuis,* conquassábit in die iræ suæ reges. De torrénte in via bibet,* proptérea exaltábit caput. ----- ‘Laudate pueri, Dominum’ Ps 113 (Ps 112 LV) ¡ Ps 113 Praise, O servants of the Lord, * praise the name of the Lord! May the name of the Lord be blessed * both now and for evermore! From the rising of the sun to its setting * praised be the name of the Lord! High above all nations is the Lord, * above the heavens his glory. Who is like the Lord, our God, * who has risen on high to his throne yet stoops from the heights to look down, * to look down upon heaven and earth? From the dust he lifts up the lowly, * from his misery he raises the poor to set him in the company of princes, * yes, with the princes of his people. To the childless wife he gives a home * and gladdens her heart with children. Ps 112 LV Laudáte, púeri Dómini,* laudáte nomen Dómini. Sit nomen Dómini benedíctum* ex hoc nunc et usque in sǽculum. A solis ortu usque ad occásum* laudábile nomen Dómini. ----- ‘Nisi Dominus’ Ps 127 (Ps 126 LV) Ps 127 If the Lord does not build the house, * in vain do its builders labor; if the Lord does not watch over the city, * in vain does the watchman keep vigil. In vain is your earlier rising, * your going later to rest, you who toil for the bread you eat, * when he pours gifts on his beloved while they slumber. Truly sons are a gift from the Lord, * a blessing, the fruit of the womb. Indeed the sons of youth * are like arrows in the hand of a warrior. O the happiness of the man * who has filled his quiver with these arrows! He will have no cause for shame * when he disputes with his foes in the gateways. Ps 126 LV Nisi Dóminus ædificáverit domum,* in vanum labórant, qui ædíficant eam. -----

This exquisite setting of The Lord's Prayer was composed by my grandfather, Richard Keys Biggs. How wonderful to see it here in KZbin!

As a child into my college years I was a parishioner at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Los Angeles. Mr. Biggs was the choirmaster there, and every Sunday the Mens' and Boys' Choir sang the High Mass. What a weallth to have as a basis for liturgical music thanks to your grandfather!

First, master the music, intonation, rhythm by humming QUIETLY IN HEAD VOICE WITH OPEN HUM. Second, sing on OO with an extremely quiet sound - sotto voce. Third, have men singing in head falsetto and octave higher than written and women singing in chest voice an octave lower. Then chance to AH. Always being conscious of a relaxed Adam's apple / yawning position and ALWAYS THE SAME SOTTO VOCE EXTREMELY QUIET SOUND as if you are far far away. Then finally at the end add words but always the same volume.

Why not? I once sang the Duruflé Requiem with him. It was sublime. The colors he could get from choirs was amazing.

@@seanmcdermott7256 because he’s an arrogant ass the way he speaks to the choristers.

This is a terrific combination! Charlotte Lansberg’s music sung by Emmet Cahill and the choir. I’ve always been a huge fan of Emmet Cahill. But this piece is also making me a fan of the Credo Catholic Choir and Charlotte Lansberg. Well done!
