Been listening to the Fall since mid 80’s and always liked this era Fall better….. but man, their later stuff is almost as good. Not many bands can stay so relevant and creative for 4 decades. MES - what a talent he was.

This is why MES never worried about losing band members or even entire bands. He was always able to summon -- literally SUMMON -- new band members with just a few arcane hand gestures.

I heard that they're lovely. Especially Tim, a mate of mine spent a few hours in his company and said he was a really nice fella. And a great musician. I only met Dave Spurr and Pete Greenway, 'cause I used to work with Daz Garratt--another very, very nice gentleman. He sort of introduced me to MES before a Fall gig in London, last time I saw them. Mark was in a, uh, humorous yet combative mood, let's say? I just kind of nodded and laughed when it seemed appropriate. I remember him saying: "Tell this cunt he better not leave again!", gesturing with his pint towards Daz. I was hiĝh as a kite after that and they played a fucking blinder. Also I've never paid as much for a round of drinks as I did at the pub opposite the venue, fuck me (it was in Chelsea, the second Under The Bridge gig in 2014).
